I am not an eye candy nut, and if the driving model in GP3 felt halfway decent, I wouldn't mind the low-rent graphics, but the physics model doesn't justify the heavy processor demand, IMO. In short, how come F12K runs/looks okay on my system, while GP3 runs/looks like crap? I seem to be the exception to the rule here, compared to everyone else (and, yes, I have seen GP3 run in software mode on a Pentium Pro system, and it looked okay there, but I'm disappointed on my own system). -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Well, as the owner of GP3, F1 World Grand Prix, and F1 2000, I'm going to have to say that I like GP3 the best. Now I know there are lot's of folks who disagree with me and I can understand everyone's opinions on the matter also. This is just my 2 cents worth on why I like GP3 the best. Primarily because I can run it at 800x600 and 1024x780 with all the graphics turned on and all opponents and still have a fluid framerates. I cannot do this with F1 2000. The GP3 car also feels better to me (I'm not saying realistc..just feels better) and sound better than the F1 World Grand Prix depiction. Also, IMHO, I really don't think there's anything wrong with the graphics (LoL I know I'm going to get slammed on this one but oh well.....)...it looks better than F1WGP and F1 2000. (Once again IMHO). Last of course is the wet weather. I don't think there's anything out there that compares to GP3 when it comes to weather, not SCGT or anything else that I can think of off-hand. Oh well, just my 2 cents worth. I know I'm going to get criticism but hey, what are the newsgroups for right? Cheers!

No criticism here, there are very few games available of the GP series calibre (GP2 was and is awesome, GP3 is awesome) and also GPL is a very good game (I just got it today ;-) so I can't slam you at all, all the other gp games I've played are far too easy and arcade-like which spoils it, and makes it boring. Its far more interesting to get into the depth and detail of the sport and makes you more satisfied to race and win/get a good result. But the option for a quick race is always there aswell, awesome. As for graphics, I dont mind it if it looks crap, IMO I didnt like the look of the cockpit until I played it - when it was calibrating my display I didnt like it at all, but as soon as I drove the car I found it was awesome, and I still play GP2 so graphics dont bother me, as long as it is a quality game (like the aforementioned). I also play NFS:Porsche 2000, but I wouldn't ever compare that with the gp-type games as they are very different, but I really love Porsche, it is a fantastic game and the online racing is beyond awesome, its sooo quick considering Internet play on other games. IMO - GP2/3 are very, very good games, I've not played GPL a great deal yet, but what from ppl I know have been saying, I can't wait to get more into it - and possibly enter the league GPLRank or whatever it is. Thats my 2 cents ;-) hehe -- Phil. It is incredibly frustrating because it is so hard but is also very satisfying when you hit a milestone: first clean lap; first clean race; first win; figuring out how to drive the Lotus; under 130 at monza; under 9 at the ring (still working on that); first vroc race; first vroc win; a GPLRank; a GPLRank under 100; escape from St. Eldred's Cup; a negative GPLRank.... I could go on but I'm getting misty eyed (about thinking of all the things undone) Chris --who needs to spend more time at the track

I think that GP3's reliance on (as far as I can tell) the GP2 design probably made it difficult to get tcp/ip lag free multiplayer to work. I like gp3 alot but it seems a bit like ptolemaic astronomy (http://es.rice.edu/ES/humsoc/Galileo//Things/ptolemaic_system.html)-- the system produces good results but is not very elegant and has difficulty incorporating new observations(requirements). GP3 is and GP2 was a great game. No criticism here so far. What people moan about is the fact that some points simply need to be fixed, and progress hasn't been from what has been expected (4 years). If Geoff were to release a proper glitch/bugfix and would finally come-up with a decent multiplayer option, GP3 would be perfect. If however, the progress of GP4 is similar to that of GP3 I prolly wouldn't buy the game anymore. I hope they don't follow the same route as Ea Sports did with their Fifa 96, 97, 98RTWC, 98WC, 99, 2000 and Euro2000 series. I bought the first (4) ones, the rest were only minor upgrades and only intented as a cash cow for electronic arts. I don't consider myself a sponsor of a cash cow.

Yo GP3 has grown on me a lot over the last few days. I still want to know where the Internet play option is though? Bye Mark

That is a major deficiency of GP3. Who ever heard of a game released today that does not have a good multiplayer module? Imagine Nascar Heat not having multiplayer, when it is released. Why Hasbro did not include a working Internet play module in GP3 is beyond me. Alanb

What did you disable on F1 2K? I have a K6-3 400, 96 MB ram, and a V3 3000. My frame rates are less than acceptable. I guess I haven't found the right combination of stuff to disable yet...
