I know that ICR2 is a bit old, but I like it and I've got a sloooow PC.
Anyone know where I can get a carset for the current season? Most recent
one I've found so far is '97.

Archie,
You can get a magnificent 2000 carset here:
http://www.geocities.com/szikszo/carset/carset2.htm
Robert Szikszo completely re-did the 3d modelling for the car to make
it look like a Reynard (he did a perfect job), and some of the best car
painters from previous ICR2 projects provided the paintjobs. It is a
really wonderful-looking set.
The trouble is that depending on how slow your computer is and how many
cars you want to run, you may take a substantial (read "unplayable")
framerate hit. Regardless, it's still beautiful enough to justify its
existance on your hard drive, even if only to look at!
That's the only 2000 set I'm aware of, but I'm sure you could find
something somewhere more recent than '97. For example, there is a '99
set here:

Have fun and take care!
