I know, but I had both in my old PC where I had just added the LS-120 so I installed it here also. Doesn't hurt anything ;) -- Scott B. I solved the restart problems. I had enabled the Plug and Play operating system in my BIOS when I put the pc together as I was having a problem with my SoundBlaster Live and NIC card (ended up being the SB drivers). I disabled the PnP in BIOS and now pc restarts with no problem. -- Scott B. Husted PA-Scott ICQ# 4395450 "Scott B. Hello all, I just built a brand new PC, the following are the specs: Intel PIII 800EB ASUS CUSL2 Intel 815 chipset motherboard 256mb Micron PC133 SDRAM 3DCool Tornado 1000 w/300 Watt Power Supply Windows 98SE Windows 2000 (Not loaded yet) ASUS AGP V7700 NVIDIA GeForce2 32mb IBM 45GB Deskstar 75GXP ATA-100 Hard Drive Pioneer 16X DVD-115 (40X CD-ROM) Drive SoundBlaster Live Value soundcard HP CD-Writer Plus CD-R/RW 4X4X24 Generic NEC Floppy Drive LS-120 SuperDisk Drive ProView Pro-900 19in monitor 2 Altec Lansing Gateway speakers Kenwood KPM-610 headphones HP 560C Color inkjet printer Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer Optical mouse Netgear FA310TX 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI card Efficient Networks, Inc external SpeedStream DSL modem (DSL 1.5/384) 3com Internet PCI Gaming Modem (not installed) Scanport 30-bit (600dpi) Parallel Port flatbed color scanner (not installed) ACT-LABS Force RS steering wheel and RS Shifter unit Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro steering wheel Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad Microsoft Sidewinder joystick OK... I think that covers it all <VBG> Anyways, heres my problem(s), 1) When I shut down my PC, my Microsoft Optical Intellimouse Explorer stays on. On my old pc it would shut down, now the light stays on all the time. It is USB, but I have an adapter and am connecting it through the PS/2 connector. 2) Windows98 hangs whenever I select restart, whether I hold the shift key or not. The PC shuts down just fine, but it will hang every single time I select restart. I have already applied the patches from Microsoft and fast shutdown is not enabled. Otherwise, Windows98 and the PC is running flawlessly, just the two annoying things I can't get figured out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Also, please be somewhat specific as I am by no means a computing expert. I am proud that I built this thing from scratch and it feels great to get everything working.... but its frustrating when you have some minor issues you don't know how to resolve <VBG> Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! -- Scott B. Why do you have a floppy drive AND an LS120 Superdisk? You don't need both. "Scott B. Husted" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Just a suggestion, try disabling the soundblaster DOS emulation from device manager. That is causing me all sorts of start up and shut down problems. Also try disabling your network card from the same place, that can be switched with the PC running and has also caused me a few problems in the past. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Scott B.
