I downloaded and installed Nascar Heat demo last night and I must say I'm impressed with the quality of this sim. The menus are laser fast and very straightforward. The controllers menu worked flawlessly and made it simple to set up my LWFF wheel. The benchmarking system is a great idea that every 3D game should have. Replays were cool and the stats menu with telemetry is another excellent implementation. The sim runs really well on my system with a P3600 and TNT2 (nonultra) at the highest resolution with all details on. Overall a nice package and I probably would buy it if Nascar sims didn't bore me so much. Jcharm

MGI (Moster Gaming something...) is the developer, the same ones who created Viper Racing. They are under Hasbro. ds Badlands wrote in message <12kl5.497$[email hidden]>...

I'm curious. If you have no intention of buying the game because Nascar sims bore you so much, why did you take the time to download it? Besides that, you obviously played it enough to learn some of the features. Where exactly did I 'come down' on you?

Lighten up? You're imagining things. I never said you were ANY kind of snob. I'm not looking for a fight. If I was, I'd have called you names, or started swearing at you, or something. I simply asked an honest question. I was just surprised that someone who seemed fairly articulate and level-headed would take time to evaluate a program that they don't have interest in. I wouldn't download a demo for monster truck racing - I can't stand it. If you want a fight, look somewhere else. My sentiments exactly. It makes me rather sad to see so much brilliant development time and effort going into an oval track game (just BTW, I will probably buy the game anyway - which requires begging my aunt visiting the States to get a copy!). A touring car or rally game (or sports car sim, naturally) with this level of quality would definitely have me foaming at the mouth. Dirt Track Sprints has me similarly frustrated . . . BTW, which of the NASCAR tracks are road courses? > Do you think I'm an F1 snob of some sort? Well no I'm not. I findwatching > Nascar to be quite enjoyable - more so than most F1 races. The aerodynamics of modern F1's are probably partly to blame, unfortunately. Oval racing has its moments, although there is nothing to compare with the experience of pitting your abilities against a track like Spa Francorchamps, Suzuka (or even the Hungaroring which I have come to really like). Road Atlanta in SCGT is another of my favourites. The feeling of weight transfer in a chicane, or outbraking an opponent at a hairpin, or the "rhythm" of a complex series of corners are just some of the experiences I really miss when racing ovals. > Why's everybody always looking for a fight? Good question ;-) Ryan

Afaik Wakins Glen and Sears Point. I'm not too much into oval racing too, but the more and more I play NH, the more I start to enjoy it. I agree, I also would have preferred a toca game with this engine, and I've they're clever they will use this engine for all sorts of racing games (not like Papy who have a brillant engine and still haven't used it for another game, untill N4 comes out that is).

Isn't that the main difference? F1 is mainly about driving the track skill, Nascar is mainly about driving against other cars skill. Both have their charms. Andre
