Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you

Who cares what it bloody sounds like? -You want something that sounds nice,
try Beethoven's 1st on a quality stereo system. Won't get you past the
Intimitador in a hurry though (just spent 15mins swapping paint with his
in-game representation.... very satisfying indeed ;-)).
Seriously, I got a SB16 value and two-bit speakers and NH sounds perfectly
adequate to me.

I found it more satisfying when the "crowd" cheered for me as I passed him for
the lead.=)

I haven't read the read me file yet but my sound sure doesn't sound like "16
bit", it's more like "8 bit". Yes I did set it at "16 bit". I have a
Athlon-800, GeForce-2 and a SBLive value but the sound is very dirty and
poor quality.
Anyone else?
Thanks,

I agree, I'm not really into sound either. I always have to keep the volume
low, either Wife or baby is sleeping or I'm pretending to be working and
don't want anyone to hear it.

Have either of you gentlemen ever been to a Nascar Winston Cup Race??? I
would guess not. You have to hear it to believe it. Nascar Heat sounds
"cheesy". Nascar-3 sounds much better.

FYI - the preview of Nascar Heat on avault.com says that 3d sound will not
be implemented.

And Nascar 2000 sounds even better. But, N3 is a better game/sim than
N2K.

You can try to fiddle with the sliders in W98 Control Panel - Multimedia -
Audio - Playback - Advanced Properties - Performance, see if that helps.
Just an idea, I cannot test it since I don't have a SB Live nor Nascar Heat
but I remember this tip from a while back.

sometimes games sound like crap!, while when comparing it over Davors with
those (multimedia speakers) it sounds ok...

Do you, by chance, have the gains in your sound settings at the Windows
Level set to high? I had this problem with N3 until I determined that I had
set the Trebel and Base to 100% (advanced setting in the sound panel) and it
was over-driving the amps.
Good for Guitars, bad for Racing Sims :)

Weird, it sounds just fine on my SB Live. Just a matter of opinion I
guess..
