Re: (NH) throttle help

Sometimes its a little tough with seperate-axis _gameport_ controllers--if either the brake or the gas are on the second axis, Windows *really* wants to perceive it as a joystick axis with a neutral position between an up and a down, so when you calibrate it in windows it will think that there is like 1 micrometer of travel between neutral and up, and 6 inches between neutral and down, so often it will think the axis is flicking back and forth between the two... One trick is to depress the pedal ever so slightly both when windows asks you to put the controller in a neutral position, and while clicking on the "throttle" control in heat's control setup screen, then depress the throttle after the prompt, so that you see something like "Joy Up" or "Joy Down" instead of "Joy AY+" or "Joy AY-"... it may take a few tries... Sorry it's so complex, but luckily most dual-axis wheels have custom drivers that prevent this sort of problem... we has this problem with our beloved ECC wheel at work (clutch pedal whoo), which is now sadly in need of a new throttle pot... -Dave P. Go into Options/Controls/Advanced in Heat & adjust the deadspot & oversteer settings. --ed. I have a 4 axis controller and calibrated it in windows. In NH my throttle is either on or off. on when I don't touch the peddle and off if I just touch the peddle. any thought would be appreciated!! My first impression of the sim is that it's absolutely better then N3!!

Try reselecting it in the controls menu, the first time I selected my throttle the range was 1/3rd of what it should be and the direction was reversed, selecting it again seems to have cured that. - George
