Hi Guys, I need some advise. I want to upgrade my video card so I can run NH at full song (high res, full details etc.). My system now: P3 500, ATX Form Factor MB,128 mb pc100 ram, Montego Bay Vortex2 & Voodoo3 2000 PCI. The only games(sims) I will be running are: N3,GPL,NH & N4. I want a card that will run all of these without to much tweaking. Also when I was looking at video cards the AGP cards say something about 2X & 4X, what does this mean? I know I have a AGP slot but thats about all I know. I am leaning towards the G Force2 over the Voodoo5. What card do you guys think(make and model) I should go with? Also where could I find it online at a fair price? Thanks for any help. Doug D

I have a similar system and have been leaning toward the V5 for purchase because it seems more stable and has better looking graphics with FSAA, at least that is what I have read. http://www.papadoc.net/Voodoo_vs_Geforce2.htm As far as AGP from what I here first there was AGP ports then they increased the speed to 2X AGP, then 4X AGP. I think that it does not really matter what speed AGP you have at this time and V5 and GeForce2 will work OK. The V5 is a big card (10.5") so you may need to move things to make room. I found a good price here and free shipping. http://www.onvia.com/CnetShopper/Products/index.cfm?Task=ViewProduct&IDCatalog=2 502983 Lutrell "Doug D" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I don't think it would be a good idea to get a V5 before seeing if 3dfx can get some of the current issues sorted out in their next drivers. The card has some nasty SLI quirks with quite a few D3D and Glide games, which lead to it being faster using just one VSA chip than it is with both chips. For instance GPL and GP3 run faster in 'single-chip' mode compared to the non-fsaa dual-chip mode (which is ironically called 'fastest-performance' ). Having said that, in GPL single-chip on a V5 is still faster than a Geforce 2 using the d3d beta rasterizer, although it's also the same speed as a V3.
