Can the V5 in hardware mode use the full screen as in software mode, or does the
view not use all the screen?

It uses all the screen in all modes, whether software or hardware. What's
probably hapenning is that it's running in a resolution you haven't set up
right on your monitor. This happens on my PC if I run GP3 in 512*384, just
because i've never bothered to expand that res to fill the monitor screen.
Try a different res or expand the picture with the monitor controls.
