I guess that's it, because I have, indeed, messed around with the options.cfg file. Is "messing around" with this file in the retail version going to cause the same thing? I hope not, because this and the fact that I'm getting little to no FF with my LWFF are the only gripes I have so far. NH looks like a real piece of work. Jerry Morelock

I have a P3/800, and loading can take up to 3-4 minutes, depending on what's loading. With your P2--assuming the same thing's going on--you might need to wait, oh, 8-12 minutes. :-) (I thought my system had locked, too, at first, because during most of the wait there's absolutely no apparent HD activity.) I've been experiencing exceptionally long load times when starting practice/races, etc.--2-3 minutes+. Is this the same for everyone or do I have something porked, perhaps? It'd be nice if NH had some sort of progress indicator rather than the "loading track" bar that quickly zips by and then leaves you with the small mid-screen graphic, that in my case is there seemingly forever. If you've messed around with the options.cfg file, you may find long load times. Hello, i have a PII677 64mb tnt2 system, and the loading only takes 4 seconds. When however, i start experimenting with the NH config file, it wont load at all. I believe Ed has stated that Vertex damage is broke in the demo, and should have been disabled permanately. -- Don Burnette Dburn in N3 and Legends ICQ# 74084566 "Daniel Lichtenberger" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > On Sun, 13 Aug 2000 14:49:15 GMT, Andre Warringa <[email hidden]> > wrote: > > >>If you've messed around with the options.cfg file, you may find long load > >>times. > > > >Why does the loading take so much more time after some simple > >options.cfg changes? Why does the loading take so much more time after some simple options.cfg changes? I changed Vertex_damage to on, hardcore mode on, and loading takes about 1 minute now instead of 10 secs... Not really a problem, just wondering. Andre

It isn't broke for me! I have Vertex Damage turned ON and High Detail Cars OFF. If I'm testing a setup the track loads in about 2 seconds. To get into practice it takes about 20 seconds. I am running a P3-866 with the Dell 64MB GForce DDR though... --David Cook In article <B4Al5.110270$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] wrote...

Did you enable vertex damage? If so, that's why... -Larry "chainbreaker" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:#jhkVpSBAHA.307@cpmsnbbsa07... > I've been experiencing exceptionally long load times when starting > practice/races, etc.--2-3 minutes+. > > Is this the same for everyone or do I have something porked, perhaps? It'd

Hardcore mode didn't change load times for me (< 5 secs). Daniel
