Here, have this spare "0"
:-)
FWIW, firstly, WSB2k ain't a patch on the original WSB game 'cept for the
graphics - the original had more depth to it and IMNSHO, was more realistic
in terms of bike performance, etc.
Anyway, that's not what you were asking about :-)
I've used a Micro$oft Freestyle Pro controller on this, WSB and GP500 as
well as Motocross Madness (which ships with it) and whilst opinion is split
on this device, personally, I find it to be the dogs bollocks.
I love the way you can just "think" your way into turns and with a bit of
practice (ok, a *lot* of practice!) you'll be hot-lapping with the best of
them.
Some ppl prefer a stick, but I've always found sticks best suited to flight
sims. Others have had some success with a wheel and pedals, but again,
'cause the real thing doesn't have a wheel, it feels very odd using a wheel
to control a bike.
I like my Freestyle Pro 'cause it's about the closest thing to holding
handlebars that I've come across (short of that yankee "bike simulator"
thing which *actually has bike controls on it).
Whilst we're talking about the Freestyle Pro, I've got mine configured (in
WSB and GP500) so that tilting it forward applies gas and tilting it
rearward applies brakes (front *and* rear).
Others here (DocGonz0 I think) have it set up differently so that tilting
*back* gives it gas, just like twisting the throttle IRL. I think he also
has his brakes set up separately on buttons.
The possibilities are (almost) endless with this controller though I'd love
to see someone develop the concept further and make a proper, handheld
motorcycle controller using tilt technology combined with some sort of
separate, analogue front and rear brake, mebbe a trigger-style thing like
Thrustmaster used on their gamepad, but configurable as two separate
channels.
