funny like that, we take things too personally, and identify with products. I
get so sick of hearing "GPL is the best" that I almost despise a game that I
used to greatly enjoy. Now I find myself nitpicking over its shortcomings
because some people have put it on a pedestle. people in the Sony,Sega,and
Nintendo newsgroups each despise and put down the rival systems, even though
they are all excellent and worth buying. Hardware and software makers must love
our affinity for identifying with a product. Customer loyalty means bucks.

I seem to have this really weird personal problem that arises when
interacting with others on this news group. I find that if someone else
likes a certain game or simulation and I don't, I feel like I have been
attacked on a personal level. I then get really angry and feel this need
to lash out at the person who has different likes than my own. First, I
call them stupid for having a different idea than mine, then I refer to
other posts I have made showing that I am right and that my view is the
only valid one.
After that I will wait for their reply, take that as another personal
attack, tell them to f#@k off and start another thread, again defending
my same position, only this time with a different subject header. The
same as%hol# replies and this time I am even angrier because I realize
there might be a different way to look at the racing sim world and that
my way might be wrong.
I will have none of that and I begin to spew profanities thinking, "That
will show them that I have the only correct view of this racing game
crap." Then someone will have the nerve to call it a SIM not a game and
then, "Oh I HAVE to reply to this jerk," who knows nothing, that it is
indeed a game, and if this fool weren't such an idiot they would see how
stupid they, and all their GPL centric, loser, POS, a-hole buddies truly
are.
By this time I am banging my fists on my keyboard, frothing at the
mouth, checking the board every 20 seconds just waiting for the first
fool to post a reply that is different than mine in even the smallest
way, then I attack again. I pick apart their post like a surgeon.
Mis-spell a word and BAM, you're mime. I live for another day, cruising
every post for differing points of view as if they pose a real threat to
my very existence.
Ah yes, GPL is the ONLY game worth playing, death to anyone who thinks
differently, life is good, and hey maybe it's not a problem after all.
