Act Labs and Guillemot FF wheels interfere with modem

4 posts by 3 people · 14 Aug 2000 - 24 Aug 2000

I have an Act Labs RS FF wheel and a Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel. When I load either into game controllers in control panel it will cause my modem to "be on" all the time so that I cannot use my modem. This does not happen with Wingman FF wheel. Does anybody know why this happens with those wheels and how to fix it? Act Labs tech support basically said there is no fix. Thanks, James
Yes it is on the same IRQ. Are there easy ways to change this? Thanks, James Sincerely, James

I have an act labs wheel an olitec modem and have no problem. Maybe it comes from your modem, internal external, what brand, is the modem on the same IRQ/IO than the wheel ? Hello, Hello, I don't think anyone here said that there is "no fix." I asked around and the tech fellow you spoke to thinks there might me a miscommunication. In any case, there is always a fix. The question is, "To what extent do you want to go?" If it is an IRQ conflict, have you tried simply changing the PCI slot that your modem sits in? I have at home in one system: Abit BH6 Pentium 450 Diamond SupraMax modem 320 megs of RAM Asus V3800 TNT Ultra Deluxe ACT LABS Force RS Adaptec 2940 SCSI card Creative Banshee Blaster (secondary display) SoundBlaster Live Value and I have no problems using my Force RS and modem. In my other system, I have: Asus CUV4X Pentium 733 128 Megs of RAM Elsa Geforce DDR US Robotics Modem Diamond MX400 Sound Card ACT LABS Force RS and have no problems using the Force RS and the modem. And...another one of our tech guys here just told me that he has...gasp.... Pentium 133 Zoltrix 33.6 speaker modem (I am almost embarrassed to admit that we would hire someone with this kind of hardware...if you want to call it that) 32 megs of RAM SB 16 and he has no problems with the Force RS and his modem working at the same time. So...there must be a way. Just keep in mind that in a PC, there are thousands of things that can prevent something from working problem. Such is the joy of tweaking PCs. :) Raymond ACT LABS www.act-labs.com On 14 Aug 2000 23:51:35 GMT, [email hidden] (James Larson) wrote:
