Hi all,
Just finished a brief (12 or so laps) practice at the Hungaroring to see how
it matched up to the real thing. Thought it was pretty accurate and still am
really enjoying it when I get some time to get behind the wheel. However,
one of the things that I am finding a little disappointing is the way you
can drive quite wide onto the grass and still go along as though you were on
the track. For example at the chicane towards the end of the lap you can
actually just cut across the grass without losing any speed at all. I
certainly don't remember this from GP2..
Any likelyhood that this is something someone could patch or is that not
really possible.
Regards
PH
I've found its a lot easier than GP2, it lets you get away with alot more
mistakes. In GP2 you were very lucky to survive such things, it took a good
driver to get round tracks at good times, it seems they've dumbed down GP3
for the more average gamer, and not the advanced ppl that raced GP2
successfully....other than that, I love GP3 - the weather is an awesome
addition, great, great game

I agree with you Phil.
I'm hoping the combination of track editors and game editors can
improve this for those of us who are just too good for GP3 ;)

updated track files you may find that this solves part of your problem. The
curbs in these new tracks are FAR less forgiving and they won't allow you to
ride on the grass as much. You have to be very careful using the curb/grass
area!
The only downside is that hotlaps saved with the original tracks will not work
on these (well, they run, but watch with glee as the car from a 1:29.xx hotlap
at Suzuka spins off the curb in the second turn! :-). There will be none of that
on my track mister!
I use them myself since I like the added challenge but if you're going to
participate in a hotlap competition you will want to go back to the originals so
you can gain those few extra secs... ;-]

I'll go there now and check them out.

much of a difference with regard to the way you can go wide onto the grass
with no loss of speed. One thnig I did find tonight though is that if you
reduce speed when going over the grass you get the proper bumoiness that I
would expect, whereas if you just drive across at speed there is no
difference between some of the grass sections and the actual track. As I
pointed out yesterday the best place to spot this is at the final chicane.
