Adding SCGT Tracks Reply

First off, I do not have the BAN_SCENE exe that folks have recommended, so this is the "hard" way, but is quite easy... There are usually three types of files: - The files with a .mas extension go in the MAS directory of SCGT. - The .aiw file (1 file) and the .scn files (4 files) are inserted into the SCENE.MAS file, which is located in the DAT directory. These files are inserted using a MAS program such as MASpuce (which I use) or ReadMAS. - The screen loading files (which are xxxx480.bmp, xxxx600.bmp, and xxxx768.bmp files) are inserted into the LOADING.MAS file, which is located in the MAS directory. Again, MASpuce or ReadMAS is used for this. NOTE: There is usually a fourth BMP file with the first three letters of the track, the letter B, and a BMP extension (ex. SPAB.BMP). This file (usually a track map) goes in the PATCH folder of SCGT. I use this "cheater method" (after backing up the SCENE.MAS and LOADING.MAS files): 1. Make a temp folder in both the DAT and MAS folders. Copy SCENE.MAS to the DAT temp, and the LOADING.MAS file to the MAS temp. 2. Use MASpuce to extract each file. Name the PCK file(s) SCENE.PCK and LOADING.PCK for easy ID. Make sure you save these PCK files to the respective temp folder. 3. Place the *.AIW and *.SCN files in the DAT temp directory. Place the *.BMP files in the MAS temp folder. 4. Open the SCENE.PCK file with Notepad. Increase the number in the first line of the file by 5 and type the filename of the *.AIW and the *.SCN files into the PCK file, all caps. The AIW usually goes first, and I have found that the filenames MUST be in alphabetical order to avoid crashes and the track not showing up in the menus. Save the changes. 5. Open the LOADING.PCK file with Notepad. Increase the number in the first line of the file by the number of files you are adding (usually 3, but sometimes 4). Again, add the filenames with all caps and in alphabetical order. Save changes. 6. Using MASpuce, make each PCK file the active file and ensure that the number of files shown matched the number that you should have after making the PCK changes. If they match, create the MAS, overwriting the one in the temp folder. 7. Move the new SCENE.MAS file to DAT folder (overwrite the old one) and the LOADING.MAS file to the MAS folder (again, overwrite the old one). 8. Run SCGT and see if the track works. Hopefully it will. If it does, delete the temp folders; they'll take up almost 100MB (or more) if you don't. Sounds like a lot? It won't take five minutes to do this. Really. Enjoy, Sundown BTW, someone with BANSCENE may respond with a shorter way. *hint hint*
