I know, 1/2 way into reading this, you'll say "you all have thrashed it out many times so far". I read most of the post I could find... But I have a couple o' questions in particular I need answered from your experiences with the Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Digital Wheel (1). VS Nascar Pro (normal joystick wheel) 1st---setup to the question: SYSTEM is Cel/400slot a, ALL-scsi2 periphs, Abit BH6, 64 megs ram, Aureal vortex (1) and both Hercules Thriller 4meg & Diamond Monster 2 12 meg. Windows98 2nd edition. I race Nascar3, GPL, Dirt Track Racing, soon Sprint car racing and NH and N4. The NAS-PRo Digital is onsale at Wal-Mart WAREHOUSE CLUB (SAM's CLUB) and with rebate will cost $38.xx plus tax. less than 1/4 of my nascar Pro Plain. I own the nascar pro plain, and Bought it new for $125.xx about 1.5 or so years ago. I broke the clamp on the left side (the Hollow tube that the clamp tightens with actually, above the threads). The pots are hell to clean throttle springs and brake spring has finally broke on this wheel and only 1 of 15 times booting the computer up is it ever stable, even though it is plugged into the Thrustmaster ACM gamecard. I read, but cannot find the post!!! that the pro-digital is a CPU hog? The questions---- Is this right or have I got it confused with the MS wheel? Would I notice, compared to my Nascar-pro(plain) and ACM, slight or Huge hoggy-ness or hits on the cpu and or framerates?? if you can, these would help me out too! I noticed that the digital has 2 connectors 1-usb and 1 looks like gameport. does it use both or can use either? If I had the parts available for free Id stick with my known quantity, but since parts cost 12-20 bucks (plus I called and they wont sell me the clamp parts) I need to know if the wheel is better or at least not any more problem than what I have. Hey! thanks for taking the time, and any info would really be appreciated...

Hey sting, Wow. I can really relate to your post. I too have the "regular" Nascar Pro. I just bought the Nascar Pro digital. Mainly because I got tired of the lousy pots going south and I liked the idea of the USB among other features. Mainly the digital is half what I paid for the original. When it works it is so sweet. Very solid and precise. The problem is it very seldom works. I don't know if it is a problem with the drivers(I've tried them all) or maybe the VIA chipset USB drivers for my AMD system. Everything will be okay for a while then it just quits. System finds it and says it is okay but won't calibrate or anything. I remove the drivers and reinstall them and it is okay for a while then it goes away again. Its frustrating but I love this wheel. When I get the time to devote to getting it all figured out it will all be worthwhile. If you don't have any of the problems I have(and you probably won't) you will love the wheel. Especially because of the price! Yup theres something weird going on with the TM Pro digital drivers. I have a regular Nas Pro and it worked fine except for the pots being a pain. Got the TM Pro Digital figureing it would be an easy changeover from the old NAS Pro but lots of problems too. It seems to be stable now but it *will not* properly tell GPL and others that it has separate brake/throttle axis. It appears to be seperate in the win controller applet but once you get into the sim it just reports the brake and throttle on the same axis. Yes I have the connected pedals switch off in the control applet. Nice enough product on the surface but it doesn't appear ready for prime time yet. Glad I ordered new pots for the old Nas Pro at the same time :) David "Badmeat" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:T8jn5.88$[email hidden]... > Hey sting, > > Wow.
