you are using now, I just checked out a site www.slottweak.com and many including my says that the correct values in the core ini are something like [ Joy ] allow_force_feedback = 1 ; Use FF if device has it force_feedback_damping = 40.000000 ; force feedback damping coefficient force_feedback_latency = 0.085000 ; force feedback latency (secs) max_steering_torque = 225.000000 ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force And I thought they were giving excellent feedback when driving, BUT... [ Joy ] allow_force_feedback = 1 ; Use FF if device has it force_feedback_damping = 2000 ; force feedback damping coefficient force_feedback_latency = 0.0xxxxx ; force feedback latency (secs) max_steering_torque = 1000...2500 ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force You might think that with these values you would get absolutely no feedback at all whick is quite the opposite. You can feel every bumb in the chicanes, on the grass, railings...so much more different stimuli than with the "normal" values. Slottweak recommends quite high values though they were a bit too strong for me, so I settled to smaller values. Strange when I thougt that using torque values as low as 100 gave me more power on torque and 300 was much less. What a suprise when you cranck them wayyyy upppp. Try it, you can always go back if you didn't like them. Marko
Do you find the high values give realistic and expected feedback, or just lots of feedback? I find that damping around 100 and torque around 200, while not perfect, gives the best balance of smoothness and accuracy on the Ferrari wheel. Marc. There certainly is a lot of feedback at higher values, too high and it was quite difficult to feel the wheel loading and releasing pressure. It just caught myself offguard, 'cause I always thought that there were no point to add more than 300 to the torque, for after that if felt that there was no FF left when I had damping at zero. Before this I didn't get any feedback when rode over curbs, now I can almost count them as the wheel rolls over them. Now I would say that torque@200 and damping @0 is an optimal setting, I'll try your settings also to test the differences. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one with the opinion that very large damping values only makes should-have-been-weak forces unrealistically strong... I have been using damping 100 with torgue 150 for a while now after using exactly 100/200 before and I find that range of values quite close to what I guess would be realistic as well as providing the most usefull feedback. (I'm also using the Ferrari wheel.) Damping values in the thousands are great if you want the maximum amount of hey-I-can-feel-a-single-straw-of-grass effect, but for _usefull_ feedback they are, well, less than optimal :-) _ Mats Lofkvist [email hidden] GPLRank +0.38
Strange when I thougt > that using torque values as low as 100 gave me more power on torque and300 > was much less. This is explained on some page, was it eric's page off of alison's? I forget, anyway larger values give smaller torque. If I recall the url I'll post it. rms [email hidden]
I think that the addition of higher damping values added to that feeling, I'm dropping to lower values because the higher ones, allthough give lots off feedback but also dampens the more usefull ones. With higher values its also more difficult to drive, that motor on the Ferrari wheel is strong...... Marko Roger Squires <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:4nZm5.144$[email hidden]...
