check em out with a V5 and some FSAA turned on...you'll rethink your statement. dave henrie "James Larson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Come on. Be honest. Arcade graphics?
Honestly.....they are amazingly good They *are* arcade graphics because I previously thought only powerful arcade type machines could produce such good graphics. Well done Ed and all the Nascar Heat team. Ash "James Larson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... | Come on. Be honest. Arcade graphics?
I have to agree with Dave!! I have a Voodoo 5 and with the FSAA on, this game looks absolutely stunning!! Argueably the best graphics yet in a driving sim!! Thanks from Devon Hill in Canada. "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:j6Mm5.5109$[email hidden]...

I stated earlier that it is clear Ed and the guys were not going for the photo-realistic approach that Papy seems to be using in N4, but who cares? The NH graphics are quite well done in their own way. The key is that they look consistent...it feels like a "world" or an "environment" that you are in, like the best of the FPS games (Quake, Unreal, etc.). Marc. Congratulations! Straight in the center. This is exactly what i DON'T like in NH. Richmond doesn't look real to me. I feel like i'm on Mars, or in some Unreal ambient. Plus it feels for driveing like stretched Martinsville, not at all like D-shaped oval. And looks like it (streched Martinsville). At least on my V3 (800x600). Isn't it a little too narrow, also? Definitely. I'm probably one of the only ones who isn't slobbering all over NH even though I am a stock car fan. It's good. It's growing on me. But, yeah, the graphics are kind of... hmm... maybe arcadish... physics is good though. Much better than N3 (obviously, considering N3 ancient engine). -- ----------------------------------- Morgan Vincent Wooten GPLRank: +16.84 mailto:[email hidden] http://members.tripod.com/~morganv/ ----------------------------------- James Larson <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Come on. Someof the best graphics for any racing sim. James James Larson <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Come on. Be honest. Arcade graphics?
ACRADISH? what the hell kind of adjective is that? most arcade games push a zillion more polygons down the pipe than your SIMULATION because they don't have to deal with all the physics and can spend all the cycles on eyecandy. SO - what your trying to say it that NH has great graphics and still a good physic model too??? well, that must be some humdinger of a game. Morgan V. I'm in the cartoon/arcade camp as far as graphics go (and I have the Voodoo5 with 4X FSAA). The car physics, though, and the feel of the steering wheel seems much more advanced than N3. (I can't say realistic because how the heck would I know.) But I'm both loyal to the Papyrus team who have given us superior products consistently when there was no one challenging them and happy that there's another choice. Now let's see how Papyrus reacts when there's another contenda for the crown. I think he means "arcadish" in the sense that it doesn't look realistic to him. HTH -- Chuck Kandler Windows--computing for the Unwashed Masses Registered Linux User #180746 http://counter.li.org

I guess that's why developers use such a range of graphics....what some like, others don't like. The real issue for r.a.s.'ers, though, is do the graphics work to enhance your ability to race and drive? Or, do they hinder it, like some titles do by chopping off the draw ahead too early or blurring or poorly defining the horizon? We'll have to see how NH does on this front when we get the final version and can drive the road courses. Marc. "Mario Petrinovic" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8ngun7$ael$[email hidden]...

I think it's my subjective opinion. What sort of graphics do I like? GPL and N3 (although both could use a bit more eye-candy), Superbike 2000 definitely!, and even GP500. I've always liked Viper Racing's graphics as well. Seems though that maybe they optimized NH's graphics for newer cards and higher resolutions (V5, GeForce2, 1024x768+) and perhaps that's why the graphics just aren't very stunning to me. It's really just one of those "eye of the beholder" thingys, I guess. :) -- ----------------------------------- Morgan Vincent Wooten GPLRank: +16.84 mailto:[email hidden] http://members.tripod.com/~morganv/ ----------------------------------- Uncle Fester <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > L_NiN0 wrote: > > > > ACRADISH? what the hell kind of adjective is that? most arcade games push a > > zillion more polygons down the pipe than your SIMULATION because they don't > > have to deal with all the physics and can spend all the cycles on eyecandy. > > SO - what your trying to say it that NH has great graphics and still a good > > physic model too??? well, that must be some humdinger of a game. > > > > > I think he means "arcadish" in the sense that it doesn't look realistic > to him. > > HTH > > -- > Chuck Kandler > > Windows--computing for the Unwashed Masses > > Registered Linux User #180746 > http://counter.li.org >
