Now that Hasbro has acknowledged the wheel controller problems with GP3, we
have to ask ourselves how the hell this wasn't apparent to the rather large
design team over the "four year" development of this game?
This plays squarely into the hands of all those who suspect that the
enormous marketing campaign for this game has been the main focus during
development.
What wonders await us with the expansion pack? safety cars?, proper pit stop
penalties? the flight of the phoenix that is GP3's 107% qualifying feature,
which made the manual but not the game? And who seriously gives a
Castlemaine 4X about a 1999 car set when the 2000 cars have been available
for free download since Day One.
It seems hardly possible that the Hasbro stable also houses the hugely
wonderful MGI, who have scored more brownie points for customer liaison
pre-release than most developers ever achieve over the lifetime of the
product?
And while we're on the subject, have you ever seen a more out of date web
site than the official GP3 one? It is very disappointing and out of date -
well at least it has those things in coming with the tired GP3 graphics
engine...
One thing's for damn certain. No serious sim racer is going to get goose
pimples the next time a game box has the name Geoff Crammond plastered all
over it.
Having said all this, I bet that each and every one of us buys the exp.
pack - Hasbro know they can't lose, that's why they do what they do...
