I agree, On my 333 GP3 runs at 80-100% (it has voodoo2's and runs hardware rendering) On my 700 GP3 runs at 50-80% (with more GFX on) - (it has a geforce and runs software rendering). -- Tim, [email hidden]|[email hidden] http://legends.sports-gaming.com/forums.shtml FREE forums for your league... http://legends.sports-gaming.com Sim racing website loosely based on gpl... 9Wright7 <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nlrk4$3ha$[email hidden]... > Ok, Now this is getting ridiculous. > > I'm playing with a PII 350, 16MB Graphics card, 64MB RAM..... etc.... > > Now, lets look at F12K first. Ok, Now this is getting ridiculous. I'm playing with a PII 350, 16MB Graphics card, 64MB RAM..... etc.... Now, lets look at F12K first. Out of the first lapa s I've said many times I get a reasonable good frame rate to be able to race with. Then I heard of people with PIII 800, 32 MB Graphics, 128+MB RAM.... etc..etc.. and they say they simply can't run the sim. GP3 is next, people with massive spec PC's say they get a terrible framerate and PO of 300%+ at the start of the race yet with my little weed of a machine I seem to be doing better. What gives? Why are the higher spec machines performing so badly? Or is it that they're not and these games are just hated by some to the point that they'll say these things in exaggeration. Things just don't add up in my books unless someone snuck into my house one night and gave me a PIII 1ghz, lots more ram and 3 geforce 3D cards in my case without me knowing....but thats about as likely as RAS going without a GPL post for 2 hours.

Sounds like either you're willing to sacrifice more graphics for framerate, or your framerate 'needs' aren't the same as others... What's *reasonable* to you? What's *reasonable*to > you? Well..... 20fps is driveable. 25fps is quite good 30fps is super and 35fps is "da bomb" F12K is murder on a PC, With most details on I can get over 20 which makes it driveable, which IMO would mean a high spec PC would have no problems going over 30..but some say it just can't be run. In GP3 with full details and 115deg cockpit I get somewhere in the region of 100-115% PO during a race. Hitting 200-300%-ish on a start and 90-100% on a practice day. Now people with high specs say they find it hard to achieve this and get 300% +++ PO at a start. I find it hard to understand that things are this way. I'm wondering if things are *really* this way or if people are exaggerating a little to show how these games don't compare to GPL.

I agree: With my little PIII @ 450 mhz - 128 RAM and ATI 16 Mo, i can run all the racing games (F1 2000, Rally 2000, GPL, GP3, SCGT,.......) with min of 1024 X 768 resolutions (and sometimes even more) and the graphics at their max without framerates under 20 fps. So, i don't understand the problems of all users of massive spec PC's. 9Wright7 <[email hidden]> a crit dans le message : 8nlrk4$3ha$[email hidden]...

I just checked on mine. I have a K63-400, V3 3000, 98 MB ram. In practice mode, with most options OFF, I get 20-30 fps. In a race, it drops to 10-19 fps. When I left the options on, it dropped to 5(!) Oh well - for me it's hard to call <15 fps driveable... My K6-2 400 has a bit less "grunt" than your PII 350, I believe, and there are a lot of us K6 users out here. Still, I agree with you that even on my machine, I get very similar frame rates to what you're seeing, and both F12K and GP3 are VERY playable on my machine. -- JB In article <8nlrk4$3ha$[email hidden]>, "9Wright7" <[email hidden]> wrote: > Ok, Now this is getting ridiculous. > > I'm playing with a PII 350, 16MB Graphics card, 64MB RAM..... etc.... > > Now, lets look at F12K first. I noticed that GP3 performs horridly unless you have display drivers specifically suited to DX7, then it's okay even in starts (though La Source is really jammy). And the software mode absolutely positively will not run fast enough on an AMD K6/2 400 Mhz.

I'm running a PIII 667 OC'd to 766 w/128ram and TNT2 in a DTR at the beginning of a race with a full field I get horrible stutter at first. This is only when I'm starting at the back and the sim has to draw the cars in front of me. I feel like it is some configuration issues I just need to address. I think with a little tweaking here and there everything will be fine. The machine is still quite new and I have not taken the time to work on it.
