Hi,
I imagine this has already came up for discussion here, but having just got
F1-2k yesterday and having looked through past posts on the newsgroup I
can't seem to find anything on it, so....
I've noticed that when running F1-2000 in chase view mode that I can't hear
my own car! I've already installed the 1.09 patch, and that didn't change
anything,so I'm wondering if anyone else has had this probelm, and what they
did to fix it?
I'm running a Soundblaster Live X-Gamer on a PIII 933, 128meg of PC133 RAM,
and a 64meg GeForce2 GTS.
Also, any URL's for good websites in support of this game would be welcomed!
Especially car setups that I could download/install!
Thanks
Jay J
F1 2000 missing own-car sound in chase view
A new F1 2000 owner could barely hear his own car in chase view. Suggestions included SB Live speaker settings and sound levels, and some teased him for not using the cockpit view. He fixed it by installing an add-on sound pack from Black Hole Motorsports.

Dunno about the car-sound problem. Here's a good link for F12000
car-setups, mods, utils, etc.
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/
GREAT sim -- you're going to love it, Jay! <G> FYI, I can't help with
the sound problem (I always drive from the in-cockpit view), but for
setups I'd recommend the Blackhole Motorsports site:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/
You can check out the various F12K links they have (the F12K area is on
the right-hand side of the page, about halfway down), or you can go
directly to their setups area:

Enjoy!

Before you buy.
I've got SBLIVE, 4-speakers (no surround sound), environment set to 4
speakers, and it works just fine with me. I don't think this is the
problem.

This is the penalty for playing the game in the SonyCD type arcade view.
Give the cockpit view a shot. This is more of a simulator, not your brothers
arcade gamepad racer.

The in-car / in-cockpit views work fine, and while running in chase mode I
can hear the other cars fine as well, just not my own.
Regular Racer... it sounds like your setup is similar to mine. Can you
verify that when running by yourself on the track you can hear your engine
from chase view, and let me know? In the mean time, I'll try switching the
speakers (I've got a pair of sony powered speakers, in addition to a set of
cambridge soundwork speakers (subwoofer and two sattelite speakers) and see
if that makes a difference.
Thanks!!

It's just rather un-nerving and a bit frustrating NOT to hear one's own car
in a game as new and "state of the art" as F1-2k! That's all....

By any chance did you install an add-on sound pack? (I don't think you have
because you just bought F1-2000). I would then try turning up all sounds in the
sound configure screen in F1-2000. Maybe the "ambient sound" is set too low.
Be sure to make all sounds 100%, not just ambient, and see if that makes it
better.
I have Liveware 3.0 and the May 5, 2000 driver patch.

Damn arcade dweebs. The name of this group is rec.autos.simulators
Take not of *simulators*. If you don't play it like a simulator then
get the hell out of here. ;-)

LoL Nos......You really humour me. Most REAL simulators (be it driving,

Heh...just teasing you. I thought you knew that. My first racing game
I bought was a Jaguar game/sim on the Sega Genesis CDROM console
system and it only had an external view. Came with a built in track

I never said he couldn't play the game however he wanted. I was
