I'm looking to buy a video card, not now, but about a month or two. The ones I'm looking at are GeForce Ultra 2, ATI's Radeon, and Voodoo 5 6000. This is a tough decision, for me anyways. I've been reading a comparison on the Voodoo 5 5500 and the GeForce 2, and the Voodoo won all the categories except speed. Should I sacrifice speed for looks and go with the 3DFX, or get the GeForce? I haven't heard much of the ATI Radeon. Anyone know how it will compare to these two cards?
Best advice is find somewhere/someone with both/All and decide for yourself. I've got both the V5 & GF2 and my personnel preference is towards the GF2 the performance is better and Image quality/FSAA is the same. if your looking at future gaming then go for either ATI of Nvidia for T&L , of course if the V5 6000 is finally out and about by then this may be a good choice as the extra 2 proc's should compensate for lack of T&L . if you go on newsgroups and ask you'll always get people defending their purchase especially when they realise it was the wrong decision. (I know I've done it myself) Paul Klicnik <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

The GF2 has just had a 20-50% speed hike given via the new Detonator 3 drivers. So, they were the fastest overall card before these drivers; they are now even faster. They give good image quality too in 2D. In my view, the best all round card. Indeed, if you're into CAD etc there is an unofficial fix for making into a Quadro2. You could of course try the GF2 Ultra but that's a little more expensive....
