New PC for NASCAR Heat and frame-rate reports

A poster awaiting a Pentium III 800 with a GeForce 2 asked what frame rates to expect in NASCAR Heat. Monster Games' Ed Martin said over 40 fps, and others posted benchmarks at various resolutions, noting the in-game benchmark seemed inconsistent.

With Ed Martin (Monster Games)

hardware: PC/graphicsNASCAR Heat

Automated summary.

Ordered it 8/18/00 they said next 8/25/00. Wish I ordered it a week ago. I was hoping my current system was going to hang, it's ok but not "Awesome" if ya know what I mean. Oh well after 3 years of upgrades it was about time. LOL :) "Jeff Jones" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:cPyn5.765$[email hidden]...

It's on its way!! A system to handle the HEAT!!! 800mhz of pure Pentium III power, 32 megs of GForce 2 power, and all the bells and whistles from Dell. My current system is still smoking from trying to run this sim. BTW can anyone tell me what type of frame rate they are getting with similar systems? With everything on full boat!!! Thanks in advance!! Dave T.

You should be north of 40 FPS no problem. "David Thirion" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nm3di$t4d$[email hidden]... > It's on its way!! A system to handle the HEAT!!! 800mhz of pure PentiumIII > power, 32 megs of GForce 2 power, and all the bells and whistles fromDell.

I've yet to try a GF2MX , I was going to wait for the dual head version before testing one . looking at the specs though it looks to smack bang between the GF1 and GF2GTS in fill rate but with all the gizmos of the GF2, although I've heard from other people it's more comparable to the GF1SDR ,but obviously price is the biggest selling point. Cheers , Jason Mike Grandy <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:kRwn5.10561$[email hidden]... Whats the difference performancewise between the GTS and the MX card. Michael K. Yeah right, I have a P3 733 GeForce2 and with all details at max I get 35+ fps. Without high detail cars 50+ fps (in the benchmark test) Thomas

Nothing particular , I'm using 6.18 drivers . it's a Hercules 3d Prophet II running at 225/340 which I believe is the default for the Prophet ,Epox KX7A AGPx4 M/Board blah blah...., I haven't actually confirmed the constant frame rate yet with the FRAPS utility , that's just what the benchmark in the graphic options gave me. I don't car to much for actual figures as long as it looks good and runs smooth, and I have to say it looks amazing. Why? is it not right? Seeing as your email say's Hasbro what role do you play there (just being nosey :) ) Cheers, Jason.. Ed Martin <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:EWBn5.35438$[email hidden]...

I'm starting to think that the benchmark within the game is a bit off, as after seeing your reply I though I'd run the bench a few more times and got varying results between 48-62fps and a couple of times it only show a brief clip then bounced back and said 1.3fps :). oddly I found if Ioverclocked the GF2 mem to 375 the fill rate only said Good and was about 400 PPS, when I put it back to the default 340 it went back to Awesome 525 PPS Resolution appears to have no effect on my FPS 640*480 now only gives me 62fps and switching between High detail cars only causes a 1 -2fps framerate hit. if you still don't believe me go here http://www.strategic-plus.co.uk/store/1280bench.jpg What fill rates are you getting ?
