I've been searching the net for answers, but I thought I would ask here while searching. I have a brand new installation of Windows 98SE. I have a Voodoo 5500 AGP. I have a fresh installation of Nascar Legends with the 1204 patch. I start NL, I hear the splash screen sounds, the screen goes black and I'm dumped back to the desktop. Basically, I - formatted the drive -installed Win98 -updated to Win98SE -install Voodoo 5500 AGP drivers and tools -install Mx300 drivers and tools -installed Sidewinder USB FF drivers and tools -install NL -patch NL with 1204 patch NL won't run..... :-( Any ideas???? Thanks, -Paul I'll keep working on it, but if you know the answer..... HELP!!!!!

I have virtually the same setup...I just went back and checked my NL to see if it worked...(one of the few I hadn't tested when I got the V5.) It all seems fine. loaded up, went to the track and drove down pit lane. I guess it's time to play 20 questions 1. What settings do you have the V5 tools on? 2x or 4x FSAA or fastest performance. Try the single chip option just to see if you can get anything to boot. 2. What cpu and motherboard chipset do you have? I'm intel but I have heard some Via/AMD combonations cause problems with 3dfx and other cards. 3. make sure when you install NL you use the 3dfx option instead of d3d. 4. disable your soundcard in the device manager. 5. The mx300 should be able to run the A3D extensions, try with and without those enabled. 6. does Nascar3 work??/ (just hoping) :) keep asking questions, and good luck dave henrie "-Paul" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:0MWn5.3408$[email hidden]... > I've been searching the net for answers, but I thought I would ask here > while searching. > > I have a brand new installation of Windows 98SE. I can also confirm that is works with a V5 fine.

Thanks to both of you. My wife had surgery today and so I am behind with this problem. I have an ASUS P3-B motherboard with 128 mb of PC100 RAM, Intel CPU (550 MHz) and Dx7a. I am redoing the installation step by step. I am suspecting that the net card is preventing the video card from changing modes (based on debug.txt comment) I'll pull the net card and see what happens. -Paul <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
