From what I've heard, it's about a 30+MB download. With my computer, that'll take about six hours. I'm not really up for it... -- -Brett Goodbye Greg Moore 1975-1999 THop <[email hidden]> wrote in article <9%Sn5.84533$[email hidden]>... > Have you played the demo? > > > "Brett" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:01bec17a$ce11da80$6d068ad1@default... > > Is there anything new in Nascar Heat that we don't have in N3 (or won't > > have in N4)? Is there anything new in Nascar Heat that we don't have in N3 (or won't have in N4)? I'm curious, because I haven't been concerned with NH, but I'm hearing some good reviews. Career mode? Winston Select? Easily edited tracks? What's the hype? (other than Daytona) -- -Brett Goodbye Greg Moore 1975-1999

It's NO gpl ahhahahaha had to say that... hey why sweat a 6 hour dload? Get a dload manager and start the dload when you are about ready to to to bed. Wake up the next morning,,,,you'll have the demo...if it stops or gets interuppted, you can use the dload manager to restart where-ever you left off on the next night.... Really, the folks here have been "MIGHTYLY" impressed with NH. so far I have only seen two negative threads... a. It doesn't support custom joystick combo's easily b. Multiplayer is limited to 16 on a lan or 8 via the net. (the Sierra/Papyrus marketing wolves are already lining up for that one!) Since it is due out this next week(Aug 22nd) taking a look at the demo may help you decide whether or not to part company with your cash. I used to recomend GoZilla or Getright as dload managers, but some users don't like them because they apparently keep track of your dloads for the manufactuers. There are others....hopefully someone will chip in here with some of the newer, free dload managers. Have fun! dave henrie "Brett" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:01bec182$bb67bdc0$6d068ad1@default...

Have fun! > dave henrie I personally have begun to hate those 2 programs...I've found they got kinda quirky on my old system (as well as a friend's) and would crash Win98. One program I like to use when I run the computer overnight is Download Accelerator Plus since it has a feature where once activated it will hang upon finishing the assigned downloads. It's also a very fast download manager. I know when I'm behind a T1 at college I usually would get for a max of about 120kbps for 3 files on the same server; with DAP in the exact same situation I would get about 270kbps, just a slight gain :-). On my 56k I also am about 33-50% quicker which is quite significant for anything over a couple megs in size. http://www.speedbit.com/ Another one I use is netvampire just because you can drop as many files at once as you would like, although it is not accelerated to the best of my knowledge. Neither program has given me the problems I've gotten with GetRight or GoZilla. Jon

FWIW, I believe that NetVampire also tracks your downloads (and possibly all of your online activity), same as GoZilla and Getright. If you're interested, go to www.grc.com and download the program called OptOut (it's free) to see if there's any software on your system that's "spying" on your online activity, then delete that program, if you like. Can't really compare it with N4 yet, but NH does have a feature that's kind of neat. It's called "Beat the Heat", which sort of gives you various scenarios to compete in, as kind of a practice mode. "Brett" wrote:

It supports 16 players on the net as well, for those of us with nice connections. On Sun, 20 Aug 2000 16:57:08 GMT, "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote:

There is a "Beat the Heat" section where you learn Nascar driving ( sot of test "a la" Gran Tourismo ). The first 2 test in the demo : - taking a curv You hav to take a cruv at full speed and time limitation - Drafting You start 4, and must be 3 in 3 rounds, you'r partner can help you , you can draft him. There's also a beat the Champs ! You compete a ghost car of Nascar champ on the tracks. Didn't see a Carrer mode. Car Physics is excellent !!!! IMHO :o) "Brett" wrote:
