Congratulations, Andre! I knew you could eke out a few more tenths from that ugly, ugly British track! Martin (3.71 seconds off the magic mark) Long Live Nigel Mansell!

Broke my pb with a 1:29.something, still way too slow. I hate that track, I truly hate it. Doing something wrong with the left-handers. I take the right-handers perfect (well allmost) and lose seconds in the three left-handers. Doesn't promise anything good for Nascar Heat :) Andre >Martin (3.71 seconds off the magic mark) >Long Live Nigel Mansell!

I think I had the very same problem that you do. Here's a trick that worked for me: Brake earlier. No, really! I was trying to carry too much speed into the left-handers and ended up either doing a bad Colin McRae imitation or running wide (I don't know how many times I've run wide on that second-to-last corner). Anyway, savor your moment of glory. Tonight I have to lose another second at Kyalami before I lay it all on the line and spend the next few days at the Nurburgring. Martin Long Live Nigel Mansell!

What the heck, here's my take on the left-handers of Silverstone: Maggots: Almost - and I mean almost - flat out in 4th. I just lift momentarily when the driving line darkens and then turn in early whilst putting the pedal to the metal. It sounds hairy, but once you've tried it a few hundred times it can be done quite consistently. Not always of course. <g> You would expect that the early turn-in is going to connect you with the curb but it doesn't. Chapel: Without a doubt this one is a pig. If there's a turn-in point at this corner then I haven't found it. This one just drives me nuts. I'm sure I should be faster through here but find myself being tentative far too often for fear of either clipping the curb and then fighting not to spin or just drifting too wide and having to back off. When I do get it right it's a real relief. Taking it in 3rd and then changing up to 4th by corner exit as I striaghten out. Abbey: Normally in 4th as I hit the darker driving line and then a split second after I brake and turn in - less than I would expect to - somehow the car does most of the turn in by itself when it works correctly. It almost feels like it's doing the work and not me. I can get through there in a high revving 3rd with track to spare on these occasions. Other times when not done right I find myself having to ease off as the right-hand field looms large. Hope some of this is useful. PB at Silverstone 1:26.xx I forget exactly, it's been a while since I hotlapped there. -- Peter Ives - (AKA Ivington) Remove ALL_STRESS before replying No person's opinions can be said to be more correct than another's, because each is the sole judge of his or her own experience.

I'm still trying to figure out how you DO it. Even though I'm reading it, I can't see myself being able to do it...
