I note that after the original scrummage over GP3 the ng has settled back to GPL. This should tell GC and Hasbro something... Perhaps they should fix it and get the respect the game could get. I like GP3 a lot - it's great fun. But I have only had it a short time and the fun might fade as the newness wears off... I suppose it depends on the 'depth of the game. This is I think what people here look for - depth. However, the mass market will accept less. Could this be the problem? Made for the mass market with a hint of a sim to give a taste of realness to help it sell?

To me it looks as though the lack of a save game option in NH is now going to dominate this NG :) -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> KBbps <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nuh1f$efm$[email hidden]... > I note that after the original scrummage over GP3 the ng has settled > back to GPL. As far as I'm concerned, GP3 ranks FAR behind both GPL and F12K. I would rather do hot laps in F12K ad infinitum, regardless of how good the AI is in GP3. That doesn't mean that GP3 is bad or inferior, but it DOES mean that I really prefer the more lively physics of F12K, which definitely leans towards the GPL end of the spectrum. In fact, I think F12K is the GPL of the modern F1 era, and I'm really surprised it hasn't developed more of a following. -- JB In article <8nuh1f$efm$[email hidden]>, "KBbps" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I think F12K would have more of a following if more people had the horsepower to play it. I own both GP3 and F12k. I prefer GP3 over F12K (but that's moot) but I can tell you this however. If I had the horsepower to run F12K with a full field and full graphics, I'd be playing it a lot more. -Cheers <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nvnfc$f1e$[email hidden]...

Yeah, F12k should have been delayed a little, to tune that graphics engine. So much more probably could have been done for it, I supect the pressure from EA to release it really hampered it. I do look foward to trying it out once my Celeron 566 (850) gets here in the next couple of days, and see how it does compared to my 300a running at 464 now. -- Don Burnette Dburn in N3 and Legends ICQ# 74084566 "Regular Racer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9vPo5.15$[email hidden]... > I think F12K would have more of a following if more people had the > horsepower to play it. My take on the release timing of F12k might explain a few things. A: EA "wanted" an F1 title released in the year 2000 to tie in with it's various other sports titles. The crucial part was 2000. Had to be in that year. And, since they paid big bucks to get the 2000 license from the FIA, it HAD to be released close to the start of the season. B: No way could a complete sim be built properly in the time frame EA was comtemplating. So they bought the SCGT title to get the developers, ISI. I think EA could give a rat's Ass about SCGT but it gave them the crew needed to modify an existing engine for F1. C: EA needed only to look at GP2's release problems to know that IF they got F12k out early in the year, they would handily beat GP3 to the market. (I'm frankly suprised gp3 made it out the door so early in 2000) add all those up and you see, it wasn't pressure just to get a title out on the shelves...but PRESSURE to have a year 2000 sim in the year 2000 AND beat it's chief competitor to market. Looking at those factors, I think we should be somewhat suprised that ISI delivered as much as they did. I said this last spring, I'll say it again...forget F12k and gp3. Lets compare GP4 and F12001. those titles will probably BOTH be head and shoulders above the current offerings. dave henrie "Don Burnette" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:2W%o5.2918$[email hidden]... > Yeah, F12k should have been delayed a little, to tune that graphicsengine. > So much more probably could have been done for it, I supect the pressure > from EA to release it really hampered it. > I do look foward to trying it out once my Celeron 566 (850) gets here in > the next couple of days, and see how it does compared to my 300a runningat
