GPL not recording lap times at the Nurburgring

Gary Brown complained GPL failed to record his sub-10-minute Nurburgring laps. Replies explained that the track.ini defines checkpoints at Nordkehre, Hatzenbach, Hocheichen and Adenauer Forst, and laps are voided if fewer than two wheels stay on track there; a read-only records file was another suggested cause.

Yes, cutting corners unintencionally is the most likely. Hapeened to me once to, and I got really pissed. Louis Kurt Steinbock <[email hidden]> escreveu nas notcias de mensagem:XgAo5.12086$%[email hidden]...

You might be cutting one of the checkpoints, which, according to the track.ini file are: 1. Nordkehre II (Turn 4 -- after the tire wall on right) 2. Hatzenbach II (Tight Left Hander) 3. Hocheichen (Just after #2) 4. Adenauer Forst Here's the raw data [ configuration_0 ] ; Format: dlong, start dlat, end dlat, time penalty (sec), 0 (required) ; 3 checkpoint minimum checkpoint_0 = 2037.0 -14.0 7.5 5.0 0 ; prevents cutting Nordkehre II checkpoint_1 = 2763.3 -14.7 7.0 5.0 0 ; prevents cutting Hatzenbach II checkpoint_2 = 3138.0 -14.3 6.5 5.0 0 ; prevents cutting Hocheichen checkpoint_3 = 7069.5 -9.0 11.0 10.0 0 ; prevents cutting Adenauer Forst I had the same problem at Mexico, where I was (IIRC) cutting either turn 3 or 4. I am about to delete GPL in favour of GP3 because I am sick of trying to set times at the Ring and having the program not register the lap time. Three times now I have completed sub 10min laps and not had them register after crossing the start line. Twice using the default pit box where I have to do a whole lap first (wasting 22 minutes of my time in total) and once using the .ini changes to put the pit box before the second Karousel. This seems a major bug in the engine but I have not seen any other references to it from anybody else. Why of all tracks does it have to be the Ring that doesn't record lap times properly??? Had the same problem, try re-installing the game, but this is a pain if you have adons and stuff installed.

Check the nurburg/track.ini file for four "checkpoints": If you drive through Nordkehre's second part, Hatzenbach, Hocheichen or Adenauer Forst with less than two wheels on the track, the computer voids your lap because you've taken an illegal shortcut. There are similar places on other tracks, but on this particular track those are just plain mean until you've memorized the places entirely. Adenauer Forst was very hard for me to remember because of its blind approach and the ease of simply driving through it. If someone is feeling that the Ring is simply too horrible and annoying to drive, hop in a Cooper and try the Test Drive approach. That is, imagine you're being chased by cops around a public road. :P (now if only I could get a mod that turns the Cooper into an MGB convertible lookalike... preferably red please...) +Cinquo

hmmm.... cutting or no cutting the re-installation was the only thing that worked for me, I didn't get any DQ notice or anything as you usually would. Strange.

The only time a Ring lap doesn't show for me is if I take to the grass, in effect cutting a corner. It see's it as a cut course and doesn't record the time. If you're staying on the track all the time and still not getting a time then I'd duggest a reinstall. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Gary Brown <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I am about to delete GPL in favour of GP3 because I am sick of trying > to set times at the Ring and having the program not register the lap > time. No no no! The problem is most likely that he's cutting corners. When you take some corners without 2 wheels on the road, the lap is not counted. During a race this will even give you a black flag situation. Andre

Hmm... or is it that way: Driving laps on a sim always means wasting your time... Calis (currently wasting time to reach 8:20 ...)

You are right really, I was just so royally pissed about sweating my arse off (literally) doing a good lap and then getting shafted by the game;-) But the earlier replies do make sense, there is one blind sharp left after a long sequence of S bends that I always miss and short cut so maybe that's my problem. I like both games, for their own reasons. [email hidden]

WRONG!! You do get a lap time if you Shift-R during a lap. You don't get a lap time however if you cut corners at certain places. That is the problem I believe.
