If it's the pit strategy, tire management, etc. that you're concerned about-
run a 25% race and set the wear factor to 4X. Problem solved. Or 15% with 6X
wear. Or 50% with 2X wear. That's included in the beta, and I'm pretty sure
it's in the final.

"Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?"
well said Scott ... half the complaints are the lack of strategy in the
short races, yet with the multipliers in place ... you can still have all
the strategy of a full length race in half/quarter the time.
sounds good to me

Doesn't cut it I'm afraid. You still don't have as many laps in the race, so
ultimately there is less of a chance that something interesting will happen. The
biggest incentive to running 100% races is that the field changes many times
during the course of the race and one spin on lap 1 or even falling a lap down
doesn't necessarily mean losing the whole race, unlike at shorter races. In oval
racing this is even more important.
I can't believe Hasbro are happy with this design decision, surely they believe
the game would sell more if it had a save-midrace feature. But then again they
don't seem to believe that as a European I'd like to buy it, so what do they
know.
That doesn't make much sense. I don't think someone would not buy the game
because you couldn't save the game mid-race. Who goes to buy a game and
says, "Damn, no save race feature, there's no point in buying this." It just
doesn't make sense for such a tiny thing could take away A sale.

It depends on what one is looking for in a game or sim. For some, just
running around the track hotlapping is the thrill (no need for a save
game feature). Or just short races (short attention span?) rocks their
boat (no need for a save game feature). However for some, it is the
full richness of strategy, recreation of the full sport. If NASCAR only
ran races that lasted 45 minutes, then a save game feature wouldn't be
needed. However to recreate some of the races, we are talking about 4+
hours. Some folks also have a life with family demands that prevent them
from recreating all of the features incorporated in a full length
NASCAR race (pit strategies, etc.). When racing against the AI, these
are the things that make a sim great (in my mind). Without a save game
feature it's really hard to recreate the full richness of the sport and
still have a real life. A 40 lap race at Daytona is not the same as a
200 lap race.
One of my favorite racing sims doesn't have a save game/race feature.
Where it not for its rich online racing abilities, I think I may have
soon lost interest in that sim (which shall go nameless <G>).
