JAYSUS CHRIST! Talk about deflating... LOL... you guys are WAAAAAAAAY
faster than me :( Chit. Where's my ego... I can't find it without a
magnifying glass LMAO!!
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't suprised... not that I'm good, but I
didn't think I was that bad... DOH!!
Back to the drawing board. Wowsers!

You *dog* - LOL - well done. Damn... I didn't see that low a time
coming. Keyboard or wheel? Care to share your basic chasis setup? You
gettng through Eau Rouge without bottoming at full throttle?
Thanks man... wowsers... I gotta get to work on that. Over 3.7 seconds
to make up to you... that blows LOL

kewl... but something in me thinks GP2 is better... it has it's own
"special brand of greatness" that I don't feel yet from GP3.
How are people doing at Spa?? I ran about 5, 11 lap quickraces there
last night in a beloved Ferrari. My best lap was a 1:52.204. Slower
than I was in GP2, but I'm not too bummed about this (unless I hear you
guys are doing 1:49's :)) I'm getting pretty consistent 1:53.5's
without pushing too hard.
My main problems are:
1) bottoming out in the bottom of Eau Rouge (and biting it
spectacularly). My wings are F16, R9, and my ride height is F33mm,
R58mm (which is HIGH for me), suspension is medium-stiff, but I'm still
bottoming out hard if I don't lift for a blip on the entrance.
2) eating the canned spin going into the first chicane after Eau Rouge
(forget the name)... cost me a couple wins :( 9 times out of 10 I get
it right... but the canned spin is unrecoverable :( With my current
setup I'm doing 193 down the straight there and I brake just before the
100m sign. Too late I guess (LOL) Sometimes I got it just right,
somtimes not :(
3) spinning out and/or getting bumped from behind in the middle of La
Source. My car just does this levitating rotation thing at the apex...
ouch. Cost me bigtime.
Other than that, my laps are reasonably good, and I'm not strangling the
car like a dying chicken.
How are you guy doing?? Anyone breaking 1:50?

My best so far is 1:48.512. This was mainly achieved by some serious
kerb jumping at the bus stop. I reckon there's at least a 1:47 in there.

>Yes I think there is A kind of feeling in Gp2, and I did not feel it In GP3.
I play it fore 2 weeks now, and did a hole season 100% race distance.
On ace level.
I think there is something about GP2 better than in GP3, but I can not point
it exactly.
I think the feedback from gp2 is somehow better than in GP3.
GP3 is more static in a way.
And It do not give the emotional feedback GP2 or GPL do.
I think its still better than F1 2000, but I don't known If Crammond has
better it self..

Greetings Remco.
Hi Hammer,
My personal best at Spa is 1.48.003, in qualifying (I got poleposition with
that time at ace level, Hakkinen was 2nd at 1.49.6xx which is actually
pretty close to the real pole back in '98). I think it's possible to be at
least 0.5 seconds faster with my qualifying setup.
My personal best in a 100% (44 laps) racedistance race is 1.49.5xx. I use
softtyres and a two stop strategy with planned stops at 33% and 66%
racedistance. I start with fuel for 17 laps. My average laptimes during a
100% race are about a second slower than my PB. BTW, I'm not that good, the
fastest hotlap I downloaded for Spa was 1.45.xxx
Some setup tips for a 100% race setup:
Geoff did a really great job in programming the AI-speed, their laptimes
match the real laptimes of '98 on each track. The best part of GP3 is that
the AI-speed during the complete lap is accurate. In other sims the overall
AI laptimes are not that bad but they tend to be or to fast on the straights
or to fast in the corners or to slow in..... etc. . But not in GP3. For
example: Damon Hill's clocked the highest topspeed at Spa in '98, it was
about 305 kmph. In GP3 at ace level the topspeed is..... 305 kmph. So what
you have to do is use this info from the AI-cars and create a setup which
allows you to be slightly faster than fastest AI car on the track (in Spa
about 307-310 kmph). You can achieve this speed by setting your rearwing and
your gears. With this topspeed you should be able to overtake the AI cars at
the straights and do a little slipstreaming and outbraking. If you reach a
much higher topspeed because you have set less wing, you will definately
lose time in the slower parts of the tracks. A setup with a rear wing
setting off 1 could be nice for a hotlap but is horrible (and not realsitic)
for a race. So by looking at the AI you can easily find the best wing and
6th gear setting.
This trick also works for the other gearsettings. See in what gear the AI's
take a corner and adapt your own gearsettings to match them.
The canned spins you're talking about are caused by (I think) the wrong
brake balance on your car. If the car oversteers (spins) during braking you
should move the brakebalance to the front, if the cars doesnt want to steer
in the corner (understeer) during braking, you should move the brake balance
to the rear.
In Spa I use a setup with very soft rear spring settings and I have set the
antirollbars to be able to go as fast as possible through the fastest
corners on the track.
Let me know if you're interested in my setup, I can mail it to you. But
remember: A good setup depends on driving style and is really a matter of
personal taste!
Cheers,
JeDa

be possible and I bet there are guys already doing sub 1:50 (1:48's
maybe?)
1:52 is ok though.

I've done a 1:49.5 with no Curb Jumping. I think I've got a LOT more time
to find in Pouhon, and esp. Les Fagnes.
I LOVE the Right hand hairpin at Malmedy - anyone have to put in opp. lock
on turn in because they're breaking too late - it's the only corner (apart
from T1 at Hungary) where I need to!!!

LWFF wheel n' pedals. My mate is getting low 1:49's with the keyboard.
Setup is fairly simple. Wings front and rear set to 5, gears set to
their extents for red line just before Les Combes (210mph from memory).
I've lowered front and rear a couple of notches, but that's it. I do
ground at Eau Rouge, but not enough to cause any problem. What speeded
me up most, apart from the kerb jumping, was to forget the line the
computer takes. Their line through Eau Rouge is all over the place,
whereas I basically straight line it.
-=GriBBsY=-
I've managed a few mid 1:49's, I'd think the best laps will be around
1:45's.

Wow - with the wings set so high, there's not much top-end on that puppy.
You did *VERY* well to go that quick. What aids/controller combo are you
using?
Steve.
I made a 1:49.6 with the default setup in qualifying...

I'm really bad at making good setups, so I usually just stick with the
default one.
I use a LWFF-wheel. All driving aids except the steering help (F8) and the
autobraking (F1). I have a hotlap saved if you or anyone else is intrested
in seeing it.
