I was at work today, thinking about NH (not much to do today, looking at
my NH wallpaper) and I was thinking about pit stops in NH. One thing
that really struck me (and nobody seems to have noticed this) is that
you can take 2 or 4 tires during a pit stop, but it doesn't let you
select which one. So, that means that you can't:
1) take 2 right side, do repairs, get out then back in the pits to take
left sides on short tracks.
2) can't take left sides only on road course (I know, I'm a strange guy)
Finally, not options to select the amount of gas (either full tank or
splash and go). I kinda liked the N3 way of doing things: put a little
less than 22 gal (really do a lot of math while driving ;) so you can go
faster (less fuel, less weight). Of course, if you miscalculate, it
brings a whole lot of pain! Brings a new meaning to pit strategy in
fixed setup races.
Speaking of which, is there an option in NH to "enforce" fixed setups in
online races?
Really looking forward to this sim!

Hi Phil
I know, not being able to select which 2 tires is a minor issue, but
quite a minor one.
A little more of an issue is the gas. How much is a splash and go? If
there are say 50 laps left and a splash and go is 40 laps, we'll have
to fill the tank. Oh well. :-)
The host specifies the setup and it is forced on the players. There
are fixed setups provided.
Anyhoo, hope the 24th gets here. :-)
From what I understand, it gives you enough gas to finish the event.
However, I haven't noticed if you were able to do a splash and go and
change tires; if not, if you want to change the tires, you need to take
a full tank of gas.

in the full release version of NH. It just is not implemented in the
demo. I suspect the other issues mentioned will still be present in
the full version.

So how long does the 'average' pitstop take? Does the speed of the pit crew
graphics affect the actual work to the car?

but the whole point of a splash and go is to just get fuel, i.e. the splash
part (you get the fuel) and go (um...if you don't understand this part, hit
yourself a couple of times over the head because you ARE A MORON.)

[email hidden] says...
The pitstops:
Animation - the pit crew moves much too slow
No way to select a two-tire stop?
No way to control how much gas you get?
The computer controls the car in the pits?
Someone mentioned setting "hardcore" in the configuration file. Does
this setting fix all of these items? Do any/all of these issues exist on
the multiplayer side?
My TM Nascar Pro still doesn't have a working gas pedal in this game.
All other sims are fine.

turn off a feature which was labeled something like "driving_control"
or something like that.
as for the tire thing... I was able to select 2 4 or none as fas as
tires to change.... (without any mods to the config file)

Eldred, there is a difference in pitstop times! Don't know
what the average is though. If you email Julian at BHMS
he can tell you because he has done a lot of practice with it.
No the animated pit crew speed doesn't appear to effect
the times!
