Who is attending the first US Grand Prix at Indianapolis?

Members discussed travel plans, seats and support races for the inaugural F1 United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis in September 2000. Some refused to give Tony George money because of the IRL split, while others compared ticket allocations and arranged to meet.

Hell yeah! B Box, Row X seats 12&13. A crazy buddy and myself are going up for the entire race weekend. Should be a blast! If I can stay sober enough, I'll look for some of you ras'ers! ;:)) In article <ixuo5.12504$[email hidden]>, "Greg Cisko" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I'll be there, but I've only got general admission tickets (no seats). Should be fun -- sounds like they've got some good support races lined up, too. -- JB In article <ixuo5.12504$[email hidden]>, "Greg Cisko" <[email hidden]> wrote:

My tickets are confirmed, but have not received them yet :\ Most of the vintage F1 cars that were at the Monterey Historics will have a very short (15min. I believe) support race at USGP. I know one of the drivers in this race (83 Williams #42 ,chassis FW08-11). I think spectators will be able to get up close to look at the vintage F1 cars in their paddock space. I hope I can find a way get up close to see the modern F1 cars , (I know someone that was with F1 sponsorship :) ). I wonder if programmers from companies like Papy will be there? I wish I could do that. As it stands, I have my college homecoming football game to attend on Saturday. Can't miss the next Heisman winner this year no matter what. Maybe I will skip classes on Friday though... -Pav Matt Lanzer <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

General Admission here. Going to be interested getting no sleep for three days straight. I've done a day (6 Am to 6 AM) and then fell asleep at 3 PM (woke up at 4 AM next day) but I suspect that I will get some sleep in the turn 2-3 area I hope to get. Also will be bad since I'm a minor, can't *legally* drink beer, so half the fun is gone there! -Stuart Becktell "Greg Cisko" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ixuo5.12504$[email hidden]...

The parking lot is the only place within 50 miles that is available, should be pretty fun when you add up americans + racing + beer (lotsa beer) + lots of time = fun! -Stuart Becktell <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nv5uf$18k8$[email hidden]... > In article <ixuo5.12504$[email hidden]>, "GregCisko" <[email hidden]> wrote: > >Well I got my tickets last week. With the F1 tickets I completed the "Indy Triple Crown" for year 2000 with Indy 500, Brickyard 400 and USGP tickets. I can't wait! I completely didn't even think about support races until I got the schedule in the mail: Porsche Pirelli Supercup, Ferrari Challenge Race, and the F1 Historic Car Parade. Man, I will be there all weekend I guess! And the tickets are so cool looking. I had hoped for seats by turn 1 (turn 4 for Indy 500 ;-) ) but got seats in the main paddock instead. I won't complain for a view of the pits and the S/F line. I'll be going to St. Louis for the Motorola 300 the weekend before, so it's going to be a good couple of weeks. Ciao! Kevin p.s. It is with a heavy heart that I send all these checks to Tony George, but I won't give up my Indy, no matter what he does to it. p.p.s. I heard something today about them having to build a crossover at some point of the Indy track for F1, necessitating the destruction and subsequent repair of part of the track?!?! What is going on?! Isn't it going to be great? I look forward to doing that myself. I got all three sets of tickets within about 300 feet of each other, all on the front stretch. My F1 tickets are 26 rows in front of my Brickyard tickets (on the North end of the Paddock), and my Indy seats are a straight shot from that over to the north edge of Stand C. So wonderful, to be able to 3 of the top series in the world in one year, at the most important track in the racing world. -Pav <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8nvh4t$8be$[email hidden]...

Couldn't have paid more than I did... and couldn't have got crummier seats regardless. But at least I'll be there (assuming the tickets show up).

But at least I'll be there (assuming the tickets show up). Well the most expensive seats ($150) at in section E penthouse which is the first turn for the Indy500 and Brickyard. You are claiming that these are bad seats? Also I am in the Paddock Penthouse, which was the second most expensive seats. I hope you are not claiming that these are bad seats. I think I am right across from the brick line... -- [email hidden]

You are claiming that > these are bad seats? Not at all. You've misread my post. Since you said "Maybe they sent out the expensive tickets first", I thought I'd point out that some of us who ordered the expensive tickets early on are still waiting for tickets to come in. But unlike you, I didn't get the seats I asked for. I put in for those $150 seats last fall (decided to splurge), but was unfortunate enough to be bumped down to seats half that price. And those seats are probably the worst box seats available (high up in the NE corner of the North Vista). I would have thought my request was sent in early enough to get something decent, but instead got my confirmation some seven months later in an entirely different section. But at least I'll be there (if the tickets do come in).

It could be that they honored the requests for specific seats in order of availablity and assigned the rest later which was available. If I remember right, I have about 18 different seating options I would have accepted. > But at least I'll be there (if the tickets do come in).
