Re: New Logitech wheel

Saw one today in person at CompUSA -- the wheel and paddles are VERY nice, and the pedals seem like a HUGE improvement over the previous Logitech pedals. The non-FF version is $49, and for this price, it could be a real bargain. -- JB In article <8o06o8$m5s$[email hidden]>, "Jouni Jokelainen" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I saw one of the FF versions of this at CompUSA yesterday for $100, and having just turfed my last T2 spring, I'm considering this wheel. However, in anticipation of new stock (I guess) Best Buy has the old wingman going for only $20 more. The pedals on the new one (from the picture on the unopened box) look like a vast improvement, but the wheel performance is I believe far more important. Has anyone tried one of the new ones yet? Any input would be appreciated.

A friend of mine just got the new LWFF wheel. The new wheel impresses me as being cheaper construction. It's a small unit, even comes in a smaller box than it's predecesor. They ditched the rubber coated wheel for all plastic, which makes it feel cheap. They also traded the old cable driven system to gear driven FF. It seems quite smooth, though the forces weren't real strong when I tried it. Since then, my friend said he changed the FF to over 100% power, which improved it. As you mentioned, the pedals have more of a conventional pivot action, where the old pedals had a kinda vertical up & down action. Still pretty lightweight pedal unit, though, so they tend to move around a little. "Glen Zielinski" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:63cp5.1572$[email hidden]...

Uhm thats bad news. I liked the old cable system better although cant say anything for sure before testing the new system. Indeed, changing the cables with gears doesn't sound like long-livety or quality improvement... and the change from rubber to plastic also doesn't sound very promising. Think I'll pick up an extra LWFF wheel old style before they're out of stock... Andre
