Actually real life steering wheels do have a display which can be used
for lap times and other information.

Of course it would be nice to have the additional pitboards in the
game.

Agreed! Since I'm still waiting for a patch to enable my pedals,
I'm just watching lots of virtual races in full spectator mode (i.e.
deselected all drivers) and all the time I wish there'd be a TV like
time display.
Another idea ocurred to me while watching: I wish I coud give the
drivers direct orders, for instance when to come in for a pit stop.
Man, this would make for a really great F21 manager game, not the
crappy things MPS put out so far.
Imagine, a full featured time table with last lap, fastest lap, actual
distance between cars. A realtime telemetry screen for temperatures,
pressures, fuel flow etc. A menu for driver orders: easy, push,
mixture, pit stop now. One or two windows for actual race footage,
with free access to all cameras on the track, including one for the
pitlane so you can see your competition prepare for a pitstop.
And of course a full screen mode where you could either drive yourself
or have a TV style view the standard time display at the bottom.

Just wondered if anyone else besides me would like to see on screen timing
in GP3.
I love the game but I truly miss on screen timing and race classifications.
Especially when we consider that the game has this Director thingy. Surely
it should be incorporated into that.
Also I often like to race from the Chase Camera view (Page Down)
as It elevates your view a little so you can see more of the track ahead and
when Im racing from that view I have absolutely no info whatsoever, Then
when in a race using cockpit view and wondering how far back the the next
car is or how far Im away from the car infront I have to wait for the lcd on
the wheel which cab be slow to tell me.
Anyone else agree?

Nope, the game is realistic, in real life u don't get that info, what
the timing on your wheel is supposed to do is replace the pitboard from
which drivers get that info.
What they should include is pitboards (so no timing at all on your
wheel) and the possibility to ask on the radio where you're opponents
are.

Have a couple of weeks patience, and the GP3LAP tool will deliver this

Yes, definitely in the director view. Would make watching the AI race more
enjoyable.

Hmmm.... The displays from outside the car can be nice if you aren't someone
who likes to hotlap with Huttu:-)
In other words.. you do human lap times:-)
A speed and gear display are least outside the cockpit might be useful
alright in this sim. I have the same problem with GPL but I've learned to
use the cockpit all the time now.
As for the time gap. Even if it is delayed a little, and it is very little,
it displays just after the car behind hits the s/f line, You still get it a
lot faster than they do in reality. If you want it quick though press "g" or
even program the "g" key onto a button on your wheel or whatever if you
don't want to take your hands off the wheel.
