The following list of threads to avoid was inspired by recent RAS discussions: <--- Spam ---> Any post with XXX in the subject Any post with Britney Spears in the subject Any post that refers to earning lots of money in the subject Any post by Don Wilshe(1) <--- It's all Subjective ---> What's the best [insert hardware component here] for racing sims What's the best computer for racing sims What's the best racing sim Is [Insert Racing Title] an arcade game or a sim Which is better, brand x or brand y <--- Who Cares ---> What's your favorite sim What's your favorite track <--- The Answer is Self Evident ---> Why hasn't anyone made a CART sim in such a long time(2) How do I get below 1:30 at Monza in GPL(3) Is it ok to download warez(4) Why doesn't a racing simulator have a save game feature(5) <--- Absolutely Ridiculous ---> I invented RAS I am the king of RAS Why isn't Noonan's track converter free Y2K or U1e9 will be the end of the world as we know it #--- Footnotes ---# (1) There once was a time, I think I remember, when Don made some useful posts but it's literally been years since he's posted anything but marketing hype. (2) If you're truly a big CART fan then you'll know that CART is not exactly hot property right now, TV ratings are down and attendance is down. It's become sort of an F1 minor league circuit with very little american talent or interest. (3) You Practice. (4) If you have to ask the question then you already know the answer and you're only seeking justification. (5) Because it's a racing simulator and races don't stop until they are done.

With the exception of "what's best racing sim/is x arcade or sim/" I don't think these questions are necessarily "subjective" or out of line at all. Given that there are multitudinous choices among hardware and computer components (and granted that some hardware choices *are* subjective) , there are many here -- myself very much included -- who don't have the technical chops to confidently make upgrade decisions or hardware choices, and we know that there ARE people here who really know their stuff. Fora are for the exchange of information, as I understand the definition and purpose, and I have been most gratified to be steered in the right direction by more experienced PC folk. > ... <--- Absolutely Ridiculous ---> > I invented RAS > I am the king of RAS Aaaaggghhhh! It's > become sort of an F1 minor league circuit with very little american talent > or interest. And if you saw today's Autoweek, you'd see that CART may soon go even further down the old tuberino: after losing Al Jr. (whatever his talent, he's a Big Name Draw for sponsors and spectators alike) to IRL, he may soon be followed, at least as far as Indianapolis, by the Biggest Name Draw CART has, Michael Andretti. And with Juan Pablo Montoya's virtually certain (and well-deserved) move to F1, that leaves CART with... I never woulda thunk IRL could have made it this far, but if Tony George manages to pull off a stunner with the USGP, I think he's going to have a momentum of the marketplace that Bobby Rahal will find hard to counter. We live in interesting times. BB

I am a big fan of CART and I do not agree with that first part of the last sentence. :) One more thing: If we can't talk about what's listed, what shall we talk about ? :) -- Olav K. Uhhhh, no.... the *pathetic* thing is that you said it at all (and repeatedly). Oh, and that "haven't said ... [tortured grammar removed for my own peace of mind--BB] for years"? Make that "for months" ... but who's counting? But cereally...let's not start THIS stupid RAS thread again, OK? OK! BB ymenard wrote:

Yes,a nd we all know that the one thing that would do nothing for the sport is for CART to allow people to experience driving a champ car at any of the CART tracks around the world. > (3) You Practice.Waht a load of bollox.... you can practice until your blue int he face, if you don't know what to practice your screwed. > (4) If you have to ask the question then you already know the answer and > you're only seeking justification.
