Although, it seems that you have a heat-problem in your computercase, especially with the V3. Try running GPL with an open case and see if that solves the problem. Or, even better, get one of those fans that can be put right into a PCI-slot to cool the V3 with. I had the same problem and an old Pentium-fan glued onto the cooler of the V3 solved it for me. I have a V3-3000 and had it running at 175 (default is 166). I experienced crashes with Solitude and Goodwood. Put the card back to 166 and haven't had any crashes since. -Chris- **Jesus saves sinners and redeems them for valuable cash prizes** Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I have been having the same problem lately too, except the crashes usually happen after about 20 or 30 minutes of play, and only while I am in the midst of a race. I updated to the latest patch, but it did not help either. Sorry but I can't really help you though. I just gave up, and play it that way, from time to time.

I've had GPL for a few months now without problems. Just the other day it started to crash a few seconds into my first lap. I though this might have been caused by the Solitude track I was racing on, but it happened at other tracks (original ones from the game) as well. I tried reinstalling twice (and didn't reinstall the other tracks). The only addon I installed was the 1.2 patch from Papy. The only thing that hasn't been taken out is the player file from the original, which I would like to keep if possible. The only changes I made to the system are the wheel drivers from Microsoft (I was having some problems with the wheel), but I don't see how those would cause this. Everything works fine for the first 10-15 seconds on each track then it either freezes the whole computer or just kicks me out to the desktop. Thanks for any help. Marc
Hi Post your pc spec, and I am sure someone can help. Martin "Loosay2" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > >i've had GPL for a few months now without problems. P3 600 ATI Rage Fury 128 16MB 128 MB Sound Blaster PCI 128 I am not having crashing problems with my other games so far.
I can give that a try but I'd be surprised if it did anything. I was able to run GPL fine for months, then this happened out of nowhere. I have no problems with any other games. Anything new? As in did you install other hardware or software? Anything right before the problems started? What is in your systray when you run GPL? SLG "Marc Goldstein" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I reinstalled the joystick drivers for my Microsoft Precision Racing Wheel (not FFB), but that's all. There's a lot running in the system tray - various Norton stuff, Real Player, 3DFX Tools (for my Voodoo 3 3000), Adaptec CD creator and stuff, and various other things. But all of those have always been running, and never caused any problems before. What's the best way to disable a lot of these things just when I am playing a sim? Although like I said I don't think this is what's causing it. Thanks. Marc Anything new? As in did you install other hardware or software? > Anything right before the problems started? Frankly, Marc, I think you've just been lucky up until now. Anytime I have someone telling me their machine is acting up I check for Norton junk running in the SysTray. After I remove/deactivate it all, their system boots faster, runs faster, and seldom misbehaves. Most of their utilities seem to be devoted to sapping system resources, destabilizing processes, and informing you of you smart you were to install them. Take a look around either zdnet or cnet for "EndItAll", which is a utility that allows you to quickly and easily punt all of the extraneous stuff from running in background when you're going to use your computer for really critical things like GPL. <g> Regards, Brett C. Thanks for the tips Brett. I deactivated anything associated with Norton, and many other things running in the system tray, but the same thing happened. This time about 15-20 seconds into the lap it just kicked me out to the desktop. Very annoying. Any more tips? I really appreciate all the efforts....
