You sound like an eye-candy kind of guy -- how would you rate NFS3, by chance? -- JB In article <8o3mm7$34q$[email hidden]>, "Lars Birkemose" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Agreed! > But it's no GPL... Okay, so it's at least GPL's kid brother -- or maybe GPL with WINGS, perhaps? <G> -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

But if you want throttle and brake on separate axis, you know, like a real car, it does NOT work right out of the box. In fact, it doesn't work at all. >Includes graphics that makes you literally drop your jaw.... (the rain >thing) Yeah, it's a nice weather simulator. >Makes F1-2000 looks like it was made 5 years back.... You mean Monza had fencing only 5 years ago? Was fencing outlawed in Italy in 1998? Why did they bring it back for 2000? The tires in GP3 look like they've been sitting around for about 5 years, or 50. If you really want out of the box fun and eye candy, you gotta check out the F1WGP demo, it blows F12K and GP3 away, in that respect. It even supports separate brake and throttle! It allows you to adjust the fuel mixture lean or richer while driving. Lots of increadible features and great framerate. Mindblowing replay system. INSTANT race restart. I just tried it yesterday, very addictive. But still, I find F1 2000 to be the most fascinating and gratifying physics-hobby-shop, since it is the state of the art for modern F1 physics engine, in terms of potential. But it's no GPL... you'll never get away with this :o) I agree with everything you said in this post (except the bit about F12000, which I've played). Lars Birkemose wrote:

Just tried GP3 out..... This is one piece of incredible software... Works right out of the box... Includes graphics that makes you literally drop your jaw.... (the rain thing) Makes F1-2000 looks like it was made 5 years back.... Bimo

LOL !!!! I should copyright it on the spot and start collecting my royalties! I'd be rich in a week hanging around this newsgroup. :) Kyle

If you think Gp3 is a fully blown arcade sim than you obviously don't know enough to comment.

Why not? -It's true. It works right out of the box (presuming you got the correct hardware). My jaw dropped when I saw the graphics... I hadn't seen such pixels since I saw Doom in 320x200 on a 21" monitor. Makes F1 2000 look 5 years old??... Heck, it even makes it look like the last 4 years never happened. Then again... maybe I shouldn't discourage the guy. -I wouldn't want to run into him on-track. For all the claims that GP3 is really GP2.5, I would expect it to be utter rubbish. What is interesting is to play GP3 for a while, then re-load GP2 in its out of the box form. No comparison. I have certainly gotten my 60 SFr worth already. Stephen
Hahaha, you know how to find the soft spots, eh? ;-) Agreed, the F10 is one bad idea (the only one, I think) in GPL. They didn't think about the fact that you would be faster using this view. But they paid attention to other competitive issues, like cheating with tracks and engine power etc. And the West (WSC) brothers in fact got a valuable pointer in this direction (competetion integrity checking) in that online chat that was done some time ago (can't remember the URL, but the chat was very useful and interesting, the West guys really seem to be burning fiercly for the right values. :-). ---Asgeir--- [email hidden] wrote:

Funny thing is, the other day I was driving along the motorway between Bern and Zrich and I started thinking about how the tree-lined horizon of the local hills and mountains looked. "Fractal" was the word which came into my mind. I won't argue the point, but to my eye the unfiltered backdrops of GP3 look much more true to life than the filtered, man-I-have-to-stop-buying-cheap-grass backdrops of other racing games. Stephen

Hehe.... Almost the same happens to me. When I'm driving home I'm constantly looking at the trees, the clouds and realworld "backgrounds" and comparing them to GP3. GP3 often wins <G> JoH
I personally disagree. I just bought GP3 too. Oh my god! IMO this is like punishent of something... total carbage. I will never play this shit again :( Even FF forces are totally screwed and works just the opposite as they should(forces the wrong direction) :(((((( I knew that it wasn't as good as expected, but this is so shit that it makes me wanna cry.... :(((((( I will definately stick with GPL, it's like in another planet compared to this!#&/.... I think I'll hammer this CD to pieces today or maybe I just throw someone with it :((((( I have played Crammonds sims since C64 and revs+ for example stunt car racer,f1gp,gp2, but oh my god, please someone come and hit me, so that I'd wake up from this nightmare!!! :(((( "Lars Birkemose" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8o3mm7$34q$[email hidden]...
