You've just been playing F12000 too much!!
You're right though - most of the cars in the '98 F1 Championship had 6, but
some had 7!!

After some decent results blitzing the field in my Minardi, I was offered a
top spot, mid season, at Ferrari. Before I could say "Mika Salo" I found
myself in the cockpit of the mythical red beast, preparing for my Friday
qualifying session at Spa. I motored out of the pits (waving to Schumacher
who curiously had his own Ferrari pit at the far end of pit lane) and then
unleashed those 800 pranching horses. With cold tires, I eased it through
Eau Rouge in 5th, then accelerated up the hill... 5th..... 6th.....
click..... click.... ??? Something must be amiss, I radioed to my pit crew,
although curiously I received no answer. Fearful of scrambling the insides
of the magnesium gearbox, which is rumoured to cost more than Ed Martin's
new BMW, I slowly circulated the course in 2nd gear. More than a few times
I had to count my blessings as a competitor's car flew noiselessly past me
at over 300kph. I made a mental note to discuss the apparently minimal
engine friction and wind drag of the competitors' cars with my engineers.
Back in the pit lane, my suspicions were confirmed. McLaren, still seething
from the barge-board fiasco of 1999, had stolen my 7th gear. In the garage,
I checked the printed technical manual, written by Gieffo Crammondi, and it
confirmed that the Ferrari did indeed have a 7-speed box, and yet my
mechanics insisted that they could find but 6 gears to work with when they
opened the transmission.
Curious...

Not quite as
funny scrolling through the whole thing again to unearth your one line
pearl of appreciation, however.
People, people! It IS very easy to reply without quoting the ENTIRE
referenced post in its entirety. This is VERY elementary stuff, and
anybody with the smarts to keep a sim car between the walls and dirty
side down should be embarrassed if they can't grasp this simple act of
netiquette. If you're doing it out of sheer laziness, well...that says
it all, doesn't it?
