MGI developed NASCAR Heat -- Hasbro does NOT own MGI, to the best of my
knowledge.
Your ignorance and stupidity are showing -- REAL stock cars DO pull to
the left on the straightaways, so NASCAR Heat is perfectly realistic in
this respect.

Keep trying -- it's do-able. Plus, the game is nowhere near as bad as
you make it out to be. You sound like a NASCAR fan who's only played
N3, not a sim fan who's played things like GPL -- is this the case, by
chance, or am I wrongfully judging you? If so, I apologize in advance,
but I think YOU are wrongfully judging NASCAR Head, and, in the
process, doing others a grave disservice. This is a GREAT sim AND a
GREAT game -- and THAT is a rare combination indeed.

A critical take on NASCAR Heat and Hasbro
rogue_3d criticised Hasbro's business practices and NASCAR Heat's handling, including cars pulling left on straights and narrow tracks. Others replied that real oval cars do pull left and need constant right steering pressure, and that Monster Games developed the game. The thread drifted into banter.
Automated summary.

Agreed. Some tracks are WAY to narrow. The flat tracks seem the worst
to me. Maybe it's just the perspective difference from N3 to Heat.
This my take on NH
Hasbro in my opinion has no right to be in gaming. They are simply in it for
the bucks. They buy gaming companies, force them to change their plans, (ie;
buying ea/janes and killing every, and I mean every flight sim they had
planned, just because they aren't selling that much right now. But I
regress, because this is another post in itself.).
Nascar Heat I think is a flawed game that was
A: It was rushed out too soon to beat the GPL-game engined NASCAR 4 game
that every one wants, because no one know when it will come out, and if it
came out before NASCAR HEAT, no one would have bought NH.
B: So, In doing so, they included things in the game that aren't functioning
properly, but they advertise it so that we go running out because it has
what we want in a Nascar game.
For example, I have to think that the VERY noticable pull to the left on
strightaways is the result of a very good but unstable car physics model.
Programer, "Yeah, we got the car to handle like the real thing in the turns,
but straightaways and bumping and colliding aren't exactly where it should
be." Publisher, "Forget about it, we can't spend anymore money on it, and
the fans will be happy that it feels correct in the turns."
Other examples;
Rolling starts - anyone ever qualify on the pole and keep first,
or second, or fifth going into turn one. I haven't and I have tried
everything including the controllers overshoot adjustment.
Damage model - what's up with this, come on!!! You almost want
to push cars out of the way because, well, because you can pretty much can
do this without any penalties. Yes, I do have Vertex damage on and hardcore
mode on, but I highly doubt that what you see has any effect on performance.
It all depends on the amount of Aero damage.
Paint kit - I want other cars, damnit!!!
Tracks - yes the tracks are gorgeous, but don't they seem a bit
too narrow. I have never driven a real race car, but I have taken rides
around, walked on, and seen these tracks => Daytona, Char... oops Lowes,
Watkins Glen, and various local short tracks, and I think the perspective in
the game is wrong. The tracks are just way too small.
C: So this game includes some fun features like Beat the Heat, and stuff,
but seriously, this is about all that is good about the game. They probably
knew they weren't going to deliver a good product and decided upon an
alternate method of "Bells and Whistles" to make people like the game. And
before you argue, think about it. Would you like this game if those things
weren't included??? Come on, admit it...
D. Advertised to all hell! And remember, anybody will say anything or work
on anything for the right amount. Just because they say Bobby Labonte
consulted on the game, and he may say he did, and just because you see other
names attached to it doesn't mean squat. MONEY TALKS!!!
Yes, this was a flame from a very disappointed NASCAR sim fan, who now has
to wait till Feb to drive N4. If you want a copy of NH, mine should be up on
E-Bay soon, as I just don't believe in returning games that I don't like to
the store. Though I think I should since this crap is from Hasbro.
And yes I can take it too, so flame away.

keep in a straight line. I can not figure out if it is my setup, or

that I want to start comparing the N3 game to this NH game. Just want
it to be easier to hold in a straight line. Any Ideas. Also, What
the hell must I do to get a yellow flag. I wrecked 4 or 5 cars on
purpose and no yellow. I ate the wall in T3 at Dega, no yellow...
Another irritation I have found. I ran into anothe car coming out of
T4 at Dega, spun around hit the inside wall, and landed on my lid...
slid through pit road and got a black flag for speeding.... Now that
is simply unacceptable..... Other than that, it is a fun game...
should give me hours of fun ad excitment.

Erm, I'm not usually someone to defend NH but that bit abotuthe cars
dragging to the left...
Its when the car doesnt' drag to the left is when you know the game isn't
realistic. It seems very strong in NH but nevertheless it should be there.

Don't real Nascars pull on the straights?
If you drive a short track oval car, and you let go of the steering wheel, it
will abruptly turn left.
When you go down the straights, you need to put very steady right pressure on
the wheel to go straight. Letting go of the pressure leads the car into the next
turn. This is the product of a good setup and good modeling of the car physics,
NOT a mistake.

I forgot you only read the GPL posts. Are you really that dense,
or just trying to be funny?
It's quite easy to GUESS that a few readers on ras are disappointed
with GP3, but that lots of readers are very satisfied with it.

I tried them in the demo. I bought the retail today. I've run 2 short races

No, I haven't run BTH in the retail, and I think the game's ok...

Just like that deal where you
could only get the new NCTS add-on for N3 in that bundle pack for like $40
some dollars. Which I didn't buy, so don't go accusing me of being a
papy-lover. Just for the record my favorite two racing games are Viper
racing, and I don't know why but I love it so much Dirt Track Racing. I
guess the winning money, and upgrading your car, and paying for the damage
part just hooked me...

never, ever driven a race car. Any set-up suggestions you may have then for
