Well I got it. I am still having a couple of problems so I will be brief. I
intalled no problem but when my pc rebooted, my serial mouse froze. Had to tab
my way to control panel/system/device manager and refresh, this got the mouse
moving. I opened the Logitech Wingman Profiler and it listed one game, GPL. I
gave it a go after checking settings - which seemed ok (I am a newbie at FF).
The wheel worked but NO FF. Hmmmm... rechecked the profiler, and noticed that
under select a device it showd the controller but when I clicked it, it
reverted back to Select a Device... hmmm again.
So I will persist and see how things go, wish me luck and any advice would be
great. Tomorrow is Sunday so I will have some time to play around with it...
Regards
Rob

You need version 1.2 of GPL for FF to work. You also need to edit the file
core.ini in the gpl directory to include the following lines:
[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1 ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_latency = 0.02 ; force feedback latency (secs)
force_feedback_damping = 11.0 ; force feedback damping coefficient
max_steering_torque = 320.0 ; steering torque in N*in giving max
device force
Without these lines FF will not work in GPL. You will need to play around
with the numbers I have quoted as these are system, wheel and personal
preference dependent settings.
Cheers
Phil

Phil, what I think he needs is to test it on another game ;)
A newbie at FF running GPL, without knowing how to set it up to for that
wheel and his tastes, probably won't tell us much.

Ok thanks, got it to work, also got it working with GP3 and the game that came
with the wheel - Sports Car GT.
The wheel works fine now although I still have the mouse freezing up on start
up, which means I have to get to the Device Manager and refresh using
keyboard. I am playing around with this, if I get stuck I will phone Logitech,
their online help doesn't address this problem.
First Impressions of the new wheel...
It's small, plastic and has a little bit of red rubber (?) for the hand grips.
The Wingman Profiler works ok, but I am not experienced in other FF
controllers so I can't compare. The force feedback works quite well and I
believe I will improve my driving with the wheel.
The pedals are plastic and from what I have read users of the original LWFF
wheel don't like them, sorry but they seem to be the same. I am fortunate I
have a wooden unit that I bought about 3 years ago and this holds both wheel
and peddles firmly in place. When I first bought it, it was for my PStation
and for playing Formula 1 and Toca 2. It is a great unit and means I have
somewhere to store the unit without it having to be packed away. The unit cost
around $70 but anyone remotely handy with a jig saw and sandpaper could make
one for about $10-20. If you want let me know and I will post a picture of
this unit for reference or email you a pic.
The verdict so far is I really like my wheel. It is fun and adds realism. But
like I said I can't compare, however I will say this. Most controllers with FF
in Australia cost (use to anyway) around $290, this one came in at $190 so for
a first wheel it is very good value.
