Just picked up GP3 here in Canada today. I am impressed for the most
part...but I couldn't help but notice that Jacques Villeneuve is absent from
the driver list!!! Has anyone heard why?

Villeneuve. He starts appearing in games with seasons 1999 and 2000
(like EA F1-2000 and EidosF1WGP).

must be a Canadian thing.

No, he's not in the original product, whatever international country you
bought GP3. How many times will we have to answer such things? It should be
in the FAQ <g> :)
The only reason that he is in your game is because some external person
edited it. You, or a third-party utility.

I have heard that JV has copyrighted his name and face (!?) and those who
want to use it must pay.Aparently Hasbro did not,so...

Jacques is the only F1 driver who's not a member of the Formula One Drivers
Assosiation. Microprose only has a license to use drivernames from drivers
who are members. That's why Jacques is not in GP3 and F1RS. Microprose and
Ubisoft could have used his name but then they should have bought his
personal rights, which seemed to be too expensive. However, EA sports did
buy his personal rights and that's why he's in F1 2000. I dont think we will
see him in F1RC, or Ubi must have changed their policy regarding buying
personal rights.
Cheers,
JeDa
BTW I think that's one of the reasons we never got to see a screenshot of a
Williams before GP3 was officially released. Curious if we will see any
BAR-shots of F1RC.....

Wow this thread is like a month ago...
Unless your have altered your version of GP3, Jacques Villeneuve is not in
the simulation. If your version is truly legal out of the box, it's not
possible to have him out of the box. Of course Geoff made it quite easy
since the days of F1GP to chance such aspect of the game.
