Is anyone running NH races with a full 43 car field? If so, how is it running and what kind of frame rates are you getting. I have a Athlon-800 and a GeForce-2, get 52.2 FPS in the NH benchmark but at the start of the race as well in traffic the frame rate goes below 30. I can see the "slow down" and have confirmed the drop in FPS by using Fraps. I figured this would happen before I even bought the game, especially since the demo only had 16 cars. Also, both benchmarks (demo & release) only have 16 cars and have a view from outside the car. In case you haven't noticed or tested, the cockpit view KILLS the frame rate. I just can't play the game without a full field. It's not very realistic without all the cars IMO. Thanks, Sal V.

I don't notice much difference between the 2 resolution choices I have in the frame rates. However, I have cut back on a few things and can almost run full fields without major slow downs. It will occasionally drop below 30 (using fraps), but the drops a low and smooth. Looking at the config.opt file: [GX] detail_level 2 draw_distance 2 effect_level 2 high_detail_car no mipmap no mirror 2 shadow 1 skids 1 smoke 1 specular 0 video_mode 3 I also am not "supersampling" my controller. I found that I actually enjoyed the look (color wise) of the graphics with mipmap turned off. It was just to cartoonish or psychodelic with it on. I thought I had the detail level setup from the menu to just one click more than "off". -- **************************** Michael E. I thought the blurring was because I was taxing my system. I can't run more than 22 cars or else the dashboard is illegible. At 22 cars you can see space between the lines between the numbers At 28 cars you can't even read the numbers. -- Robert Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Michael, Some folks have experienced a blurred dash amongst other objects when running a full field. I myself have seen the blurred graphics when running over 28 cars.I to I'm running a V3, 366@550 256 ram. Have you noticed this with a full field ? By the way thanks for your contributions to ICR a while back :-) JJ

Yes, I do notice some blurring, but it's not real distracting to me. I would rather have the full field and assume the blurring is attributed to dirty windshield and a vibrating car <G>. -- **************************** Michael E. I have never seen it that blurry. If I have the detail slider set all the way to the right along with drawing distance and effects, the dash blurs just slightly, and the cars are also blurred. This is with a full field running mid pack at Daytona. Again this is a V3 and a PIII-650. However, the frame rate with everything maxed out is down to the mid-teens around the tri-oval area. I have been monkeying around some today and turned mipmapping back on so that I can tweak a few V3 settings to maximize frame rates. For Direct3D I have the following set: 3D Filter Quality = Normal Alpha-Blending = Smoother Level Of Detail Bias = -8 Z-buffer Optimization = Enable I can run with the Detail slider 1 click from the left, draw ahead & effects off. I am running only cars in the mirror. With a full field frame rate may dip around 28 when in a dog fight in the tri-oval area (seems to the the most intensive frame rate area at Daytona). -- **************************** Michael E.
