We've got a complete 10 part series on racing physics at The Pits. Click on the 'Physics' section on the front page... Hi Could anyone point me to sites/book titles (preferably sites or pdf's etc.) that deal with the technicalities and especially the theory behind race car chassis/suspension design, roll centres, steering geometry, basic formulae etc. and theory? I am an engineer, but would like a head start instead of having to try and think of all the basics from scratch. Thanks -Simon H

For cars it differs a little but the basic principals are all there and it's free!

Mr. Milliken's book is an excellent source for information regarding exactly what the title says: "Race Car Vehicle Dynamics". I recommend it if you are serious about your research. Todd Wasson Performance Simulations Drag Racing and Top Speed Prediction Software http://PerformanceSimulations.Com Hmmm.... Is my signature a shameless plug?

Indeed. Instead search for "Racing vehicle dynamics" and category book, and click go (at www.sae.org). It is the 2nd query result line or so. Nothing shameless there Doug. I actaully took a step back after reading your name in the auther column figuring you would be busy enough to not be reading stuff here. It's great information guys, if you want to explore car dynamics this is a great place to start. Dave Robinson Doug Milliken <[email hidden]> wrote in article <[email hidden]>...
