Has anyone tried to race at Martinsville yet? If so, what are your best speeds. I am curious how my 20.856 stacks up, and my average speeds in the low 21.'s I found that the car handles better when you get the camber set up so you get even wear across the tire. The advanced set-up has uneven tire temps across the tire. I still push quite a bit though if I push it. I have to get the car down to about 60 to 64 MPH in the apex. Set-up wise and handling wise, is this about what everyone else is experiencing???
My best so far is a 19.638 "rogue_3d" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8ofh8c$5s6$[email hidden]... > Has anyone tried to race at Martinsville yet? If so, what are your best > speeds. Reduce the bump/rebound stiffness of the right front shock.......this is causing corner entry understeer an corner exit oversteer......... Also tire pressures are too low......pump them up closer to 27lbs. Last thing is to up 3rd gear ratio so the down shift from 4th is not dragging the real wheel so much and causing a hairy turn-in........ you should be good to go after this :) > Set-up wise and > handling wise, is this about what everyone else is experiencing??? --Doug
My brother got down to a 19.91 after playing the game for 20 minutes. buzard "rogue_3d" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8ofh8c$5s6$[email hidden]... > Has anyone tried to race at Martinsville yet? >My brother got down to a 19.91 after playing the game for 20 minutes. If he did this in Hardcore mode, then he needs to consider a career in driving. I'd wager it was in Normal mode. >> Has anyone tried to race at Martinsville yet? If so, what are your best >> speeds. Most laps are high 20's and low 21s.

Using the Advanced setup as a starting point, you might want to soften the right front shock, soften the front roll bar *one* click, increase the right front slow rebound, decrease the right rear slow bump, and decrease the wedge. I increased the tire pressures all around to even out the tems, but I'm not sure if I like that change yet (lower pressures can provide more grip, but you can get more of the tire in contact with the road by even out the temps -- at a slow track like Marty, it may be a wash). At any rate, making those adjustments should give you a car that is quite a bit looser, making it easier to turn, and should reduce the power understeer on turn exit. Depending on the size of the adjustments, the car will probably be faster, but a little trickier to drive, especially on turn entry. Jim Getzen The Pits

NASCAR Heat seems very good - both great fun and quite realistic, certainly the best race sim I've played since GPL. And it doesn't have quite the same demands on your concentration as that much loved classic. I love those Beat the Heat tests! What seems strange is that on the short tracks, I turn in for the corner, but if I misjudge my corner speed, and I'm going a bit fast, the car seems to scrub off speed at a tremendous rate, leaving me trickling round the turn at say 45mph when I should be at 60mph. I would expect my car to understeer (push) towards the wall under these circumstances Is this a characteristic of NASCAR cars, banked tracks, a dodgy setup, driving style or what? - Michael

Gosh, without seeing the setup and a replay of your driving style, it's hard to say. My guess would be that it is a combination of setup and driving. A wild guess: trying moving the brake bias forward (higher) a bit more. This might give you a more gentle, controllable braking/corner entry and will definitely give you more understeer under braking. Just a suggestion from someone who knows just enough to give bad advice without realizing it... ;-) Jim Getzen The Pits

Thanks, I'll give it a try - the problem seems mainly at flat short ovals such as Martinsville. You can certainly drive round it so it's not a major problem, may just be a wrinkle in the physics engine. - Michael

It can be up to 10 laps long but it need to be made in Test Mode. Only other rule is: you have to use hardcore physics. So I hope you'll give it a try and/or check out a few of the replays we have posted. At: http://blitzsports.com/racing/NH mr Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
