Can your monitor display 1600 x 1280? just an idea, but if that was the
problem the display would probably just go black I guess

yeah -- it can... 1600x1280 only became an option when i installed my
v5 --but it just wont work (i prolly shouldnt use that res. anyway -- its a
bit silly) :-))
