So after receiving a Dell P3-800 with a GeForce,
I can run F1 2000 pretty well - it doesn't compare
to the sheer beauty of GPL but Suzuka is a great track
and I can tone down the AIs to have a decent race.
Can anyone suggest the best add-ons beyond the 1.09 patch?
Thanks in advance.

In addition to the 1.09 patch, you'll want to go to the Blackhole
Motorsports site (http://www.bhmotorsports.com/) and grab the modified
cockpit view (makes it more like GP3 and less like you're looking over
the nose), and all their car setups. There are some AI tweaks you might
want to try, too. That's probably a good start on the "must-haves," at
least.
The modified cockpit file is on their "F1 2000 Utilities - Car & Driver
Updates" link:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/f12k_uti_car.htm
You'll want to download the "Realistic Cockpits Pack (Clay)" -- this is
what the new view looks like:

Hope this helps!

I'm looking forward to the changes - perhaps it will defer
my purchsase of GP3 for a while ;)

I would go with the 4 addon tracks that were ported from SCGT, being Road
Atlanta, Sebring, Laguna Seca, and Morsport. You can get the first 3 at
bhmotors, Morsport is at simracing.com. Other then that you might want to
try some new carsets or some track updates.
Take care.

Hey! Thanks for the pointer to the converted Mosport track. I've been hoping
that one would appear - I even started work on the menu loading screens for
it, I'll have to finish them up tomorrow.
Thanks again,

Just tried the wet weather add-on (version 1.1) over the weekend. It
works pretty well. Lots of "splash" in the face too..<g>.
Small file, and runs on its own. You can set Wet or Dry for any
circuit, and start F12k right from the util. Easy to switch back to
default (dry).
(after testing, I found if you want clouds, Skybox must be set to
max-detail, and "pretty sure" tire-smoke must be ON, maybe
Max-tire-smoke adds more spray. It seem higher the detail settings,
the more (longer) tire-spray you will see. Of course, higher detail
may mean slower frame-rate too).
It definitely =does= change any race! Very nice job for such a small
add-on.
Can get it direct at:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/f12k_utilities/weather_manager11.zip
Or at Blackhole, in Utilities.
