Re: GPL Glide2x Patch

I have a 3dfx Vodoo 3 3500 vid card. I downloaded the patch glide2x and installed. My menus are now reduced, and wonder if it has really enhanced my video/game performance. Does anyone have any feedback on this matter? Thanks

The original thread is gone, but if we're talking about the same glide patch, what it did for my v3-3k is two things: first it completely eliminated texture corruption during races, which I was seeing quite a bit of. Second, it completely eliminated monitor mode switching, which not only reduces the time to get into races from menus, but I'd like to think reduces wear on the monitor circuitry also. rms [email hidden]

I've been hard at work on alternative forms of mirror rendering in GPL, thus there is an updated *BETA* version of my GPL Glide tweaker available at: http://home.swbell.net/gmsmiley/Glide2x.zip A example screenshot of the end result in GPL can be located at: http://home.swbell.net/gmsmiley/DirectMirror.jpg There are a few known issues: * Switching from watching in-car action at the race weekend screen to the full size replay screen can cause flickering. Hit the save button and then cancel as a workaround. * From time to time when driving in-car the real mirrors will show a static image instead of being blacked out. Set the mirror refresh rate to 0 in the INI file if this happens and it bothers you. * It may not run as smoothly on a slower CPU since quite a lot of vertex translations are now being done. Can't say for sure since I don't have a slow CPU! Try it if you like, feedback is appreciated. - George

Scary. (I need a l-o-o-o-o-n-g break from GPL). Maybe we should have an online quiz. Make a screenshot (from the default GPL circuits) where the track can't easily be recognized and see how long it'll take before the r.a.s communicty cracks it. I'll have to give this a try. Hang on... /petern
This won't take long at all....when WSC was first announced, they had a few very NON-descript areas of Monza displayed. Folks got it very quickly. actuall ingame shots would probably be VERY recognizable unless they were screeenshots taken from unique angles. dave henrie "Peter Nilsson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
