Pez, what happens when you want to run another sim? Do you have to
reconfigure you controller in Windows?

don
New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks:
http://www.ianparker1.plus.com/gpl/bapom/
i run 4 on my wheel/pedals (controller1horiz for wheel, controller1vert for
accel, controller2 horiz brake, controller2 vert clutch).
i couldnt get it to work untill i set up 2 controllers in windows control
panel first......
Windows needs to see all axis before the game will....
now its fine....

Aha. My pedals work on the same axis for both gas and brakes. If three
axis are needed, I agree that my solution won't work... Too bad.
Thanks for the details,

Try to
calibrate: won't work, see the famous split axis bug. Then I fixed the
problem in 5 minutes, very little work. What I did was to move the gas/brakes
from port B Y-axis to port A Y-axis (unused on my wheel). If you want to give
it a try, this is what I did:
1) Buy (or build) an "adapter" to interpose between the wheel and the PC.
If your wheel and gas/brakes comes out with one plug, go for an extender.
If instead you have two separate plugs (one for the wheel and one for the
pedals) use a Y splitter
2) Open the extender/splitter plug on the computer side
3) Unsolder the wire on pin 6 (wheel Y axis, unused) and fix it far from
the plug
4) Unsolder the wire on pin 13 (gas/brakes Y axis) and solder it to pin 6
(as ground is in common to all ports and axis, there is no need to move
the ground as well)
5) Check for shorts, close, install
For the pinout, this is how it goes:
+----+
/ 1|
+ 9 |
+ 15 |
\ 8|
+----+
I would not modify the "original" plug from the wheel to avoid accidents.
Modify the adaptor and take a small risk. Modify the plug of the wheel
and you may have to rewire everything. Also, you may have hardware used
also for flight sims (my pedals work also as rudder or as gas). If you
go for the "adaptor" solution you'll be able to switch forth and back
with little effort.
If your wheel uses the port A Y axis, then you're in trouble (but I cannot
imagine what would be the use of such a connection for a racing wheel).
Happy racing,

That doesn't give you "split axis", since you have only one axis
for gas and brake together. A split axis setup needs at least
three axes, one for steering, one for gas and one for braking.
So in the end you just got your pedals working at all but not a
solution for the split axis bug. :-)
This can only be cured by a patch to GP3 so that it recognizes
devices on port A and port B at the same time.

Or just wait a couple days until the controller patch comes out. <shrug>

axes from controller 1 and the second two from controller 2?

I'm not Pez but I'll answer anyway.
For GPL NO :) but for F1 2000 YES :(
I think you have to change for most sims though.
