Sorry for the off-topic post, but I got no good suggestions from the Creative Labs SoundBlaster newsgroup. Here's the problem: I recently upgraded my CPU to a Celeron 566. (I'm working on overclocking it, but that's another story for another time.) Upon upgrading, I found that any app that wanst to play a sound would crash, so I upgraded to Liveware3. This solved the apps crashing problem, however, I now get very low (almost inaudible) sound from my front speakers. I'm using a SoundBlaster Live Value and Cambridge Sound 4 satellite speakers plus subwoofer. The sound in the rear satellites and subwoofer are fine. I recall some posts here way back when, regarding problems between Liveware 3 and GPL. At that time, I resisted downloading Liveware3 as long as Liveware 2 was working fine for me. Well, the new CPU forced my hand, and this is the price I pay, I guess. If anybody has some suggestions fro me to try, I'd appreciate them. Thanks, Bert

Not sure if I can help but here goes. I have a SBLive and probably the same Cambridge speakers. The SBLive card had to be replaced because it was crashing the machine every time a sound was played. I mention this only because it raises the possibility of a hardware fault. I haven't had SBLive before so I don't know if it's common. I'd like to think that Creative have had enough experience for h/w faults to be a rare exception. I had some problems at first, some of which were not related to sound, but in the process of 'fine-tuning' the new machine I reinstalled drivers from LW3 but not the applications. From then on, I had no problems, except for one - I find that the 'movie-mode' switches itself on and off randomly so that when I play DVDs, occasionally it will be through the fronts only. I have to switch movie-mode off and on again to fix this, but since I don't DVDs on the PC very often I haven't bothered to look for a solution. Sorry if it's no help - I hate it when somebody else has the same h/w and doesn't have any trouble with it :) -Nick BRH <[email hidden]> wrote:

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I downloaded the whole Liveware package -- apps and all. Since I don't have much use for the apps, I'll try your approach -- just the new drivers. But let me ask one question, just to be clear -- How does one uninstall Liveware 3? I don't see it in the Control Panel Remove program dialog, and I don't see any separate uninstall function built in either. Thanks! . [email hidden] wrote:
