For gadsakes... what does it take here?? I've tried everything... high
downforce, low downforce, soft suspension, hard suspension, I can't seem
to get it. I'm considering hari kari after being beat by both McLarens
not once but twice last night.
All I can seem to get is about 1:35 flat for a perfect practice/race
lap, then into the 1:36 range for normal race laps. I get an occasional
1:34.5... but crap, Mika runs those DURING the race after 20 laps on a
the same set of tires... *ON SEMI-PRO* lol!
In my 2nd race last night, I stayed with him for about 4 laps, then he
just waltzed away half second a lap to the end. DC closed me down from
5 seconds back and got me with 2 laps to go, I WAS DRIVING MY NUTS OFF!
I just couldn't keep the wheelspin down enough out of those slow 1st
gear corners onto the straights.
When I got GP3 this year, after playing GP2 to death years back, I
decided NO DRIVING AIDS this time around... and I'm noticing that
without throttle help, my number one crash cause is rear wheel spin in
low gears (although it is damn fun to have some 4wheel drift under
acceleration, ala GPL :)). However, I've jacked up my 1st and 2nd gears
a few notches, run a shade more downforce, but if the tires get beat up
at all and you lose concentration on your throttle control for even a
blink... around she goes!
Anybody have advice to offer? I gotta think race 1:32's should not be
that difficult... I'm not even close. My best ever hotlap here is only
1:34.08n... not good enough :( I've tried a lot of setup strategies.

Before you buy.
I've been doing 1:32s in 100% Ace races.
What controller areyou using - wheel? I use a wheel and pedals and
wheelspion isn't really a huge problem - it's something you just get used
to I suppose.
The only other thing I've noticed about ALbert Park is that you can use
the kerbs a _lot_. That sort of disappoints me because I live in
Melbourne and many of the kerbs are not as "usable" in reality.
Maybe you're just not braking late enough ? ;)
You could post a hotlap in the binaries group or on the web somewhere
and then others could give some advice based on that?

I'd say you picked a bad time to start driving without driving aids. I
drove GP2 to death, and without aids, and routinely finished full-length
races without spinning off once. Unfortunately, IMO, GP3 has introduced
this awful latency in the steering that makes it absurdly difficult to drive
on the limit. The wheel in the virtual cockpit lags behind your inputs by
about a 1/10 of a second. Presumably, the pedals do too. I found driving
in the wet almost impossible. I finally broke down and eventually settled
on 13% steering help, which is much more enjoyable, and still pretty
challenging to drive on the limit. Seems to make up for the latency a bit.
Sadly, I really think it's the only way to go.
I went from high 27's at Silverstone to high 23's when I turned it on.
And, no, there's nothing wrong with my system. I don't have the latency
problem with GPL or anything else.

wondered whether it was just a graphics update thing, or whether it really
does indicate a controller lag...
I'm using a MSFF which works fine in everything else...
Cheers,
Steve.
I'm doing 1:30s' with a keyboard.
The few setup tips I can offer is that I'm running
19 front wing
15 rear wing
stiffest springs (Both ends)
36-37 for first gear
Fairly heavily damped front shocks
something like
4/8
8/18
Rear shocks
2/6
3/9
Bars
Front 7500
**rear 400 (I think)
Stiff Diff
Soft dry tires
**Brake heavily biased to the rear 47.250 (I think)
**Gotta love turn in oversteer! ;)
I can't get the rear to maintain a balance thruout a tire set quite yet, but
I'm getting closer, with 'fresh boots' I'm able to stay with the leaders,
but after the rears start going off I start to lose ground. No, actually I'm
too stubborn to back off & usually I spin out ;)
Hope that helps, good luck
InViCtuS
I do use steering help because of the keyboard, but no other aids.

That's 2. Now, has anyone else noticed it??? Please speak up so

I think the fact that you can see the lag on the controller calibration
screen indicates that it's not caused by a slow frame rate.

In the game it's most noticable when trying to make small corrections off
the line when the rears are spinning. Which is IMO the reason people are
having major problems controlling the car from a standing start.
