I was curious about the 67 GP Calender. Why did the championship go from Germany over to Canada then back to Italy before going back to America. What was it that stoped them going from the Ring to Monza and then to Canada? Todd.

Tradition? 1967 was the first Canadian GP for Formula One (previous races called "Canadian GP" were for sports cars), and I think they shoehorned the date in between the traditional dates for the already well-established Monza and Glen races. The next year, 1968, it was Monza, Canada, US, Mexico (until 1971, when Mexico was dropped). From '71 until '76, the USGP was the last race of the season -- in 1976, Japan was added at the end. There was no Canadian GP in 1975 (anyone know why?), and then it was Canada, US, Japan in '76 and '77, Japan was dropped in '78 , when it was US, Canada again, in '79 and '80 it was Canada, US, and in 1981 the USGP went to the Caesar's Palace parking lot. After that, who cared? BB
Yeah-- there were contractual differences of opinion between the Canadian organizers and the Formula One Constructors Association (FOCA), so the race was not held in '75. The teams were for the most part happy to be back in 1976, as were the fans. R.
